Why is it acceptable for NBA fans to root for different teams every few years?

Like a couple other posters said, the NBA is a players league and it markets the individual players more than the actual teams.

Many fans even admit that. They'll tell you outright they follow a player more than any team. Can't tell you many times I used to hear nikkas say "I'm a Shaq fan. Wherever he goes, I go". And of course Bron fans were the same.

I'm not with that shyt, I can only be a fan of 1 team and 1 team only (Nets ). But I'm done telling others who they can and can't root for

And also i think it takes WAY longer for a basketball team to turn around than other team sports, we see football squads look completely different season to season, basketball is a longer grind imo...

In football a Giants fan and a Eagles fans can banter with each other every year
