I've watched a couple of his promos including the "infamous" one where he's sitting by the Titan Tron. Is his whole thing basically being out of character?:stopitslime: That's pretty much like having a cheat code, isn't it?:stopitslime: He shytted on The Rock for using catch phrases and w/e else he said but it seems like Punk isn't charismatic enough to be interesting without saying shyt that the rest of the roster isn't allowed to talk about. There is no way he could ever get over in 2000 or so. He's not athletic, not charismatic, and doesn't even have an interesting look or character. If any other wrestler was given the green light to basically do shoot interviews on live shows I think most of them would shyt on Punk. :yeshrug:

Shame on me for humoring such a horrid question....

He makes sense when he speaks, he never says anything ridiculous, his comments are highly relevant and he has the ability to display witty humor when need be. He is charismatic. He doesn't have to make fruity pebble jokes to get himself over. Any more ?'s

Cause he has the balls to say what most fear would get them fired...

So basically he was ready to quit because nobody saw his "special talent", decided to be a dikk and do a shoot interview on live air, and got lucky because Vince looked at the response and gave him the green light to continue doing the same shyt. :leon: Give any other wrestler the mic with the same freedom to shyt on Punk and watch them bury him in one show just by pointing out the obvious fact that he isn't talented enough to be over without having a huge unfair advantage. :birdman:

He couldn't make fruity pebbles jokes and be over, otherwise he would have done it - he doesn't have the delivery. Besides, you're talking about a 40 or so year old wrestler who's been out of the game for nearly a decade. That fruity pebbles/popcorn fart shyt is outdated because The Rock is no longer connected to the wresting culture or even this current generation. With that said, Punk could never do what The Rock was doing from 1998 - 2001 and then come back for one of the greatest heel runs in 2003. In that same regard, anybody could do what Punk does. Literally anybody.:whew:

Rock's 2003 heel run wasn't even his or the E's choice. :heh: The fans got bored with him and started to boo him into the bushes. He went from being a GOAT heel to making strudel jokes. Heel Punk would have been over in 98-01. He would've had to share the spotlight with Austin, Rock, HBK, HHH but he would've been booked higher than Shamrock, Gunn and the other top upper mid-card guys they tried to throw in the main event scene. Punk knows how to connect to the fans, he puts on great matches...what more do you want?

His face-to-face improv & rebuttal game is among the best and he knows when to turn off the silly to turn up the serious. You can tell when someone is intimidated by him on the mic. Just look at what he did to Sheamus last year and Nash before then. :ehh:

Cena's not bad on the stick at times when he's being serious BUT he does he same shooty thing that Punk does while being overbearing with it. You can see the backstage politics in his exchanges (see: Cena/Ziggler)

Punk, on the other hand, allows folks to get their ideas off and then hits them with a rebuttal off the top of his head. It's basically like Hollow Da Don/Dizaster (freestyle/cleverness/versatility) Vs. a "one dimensional gun rhyme punchline festival" :ld:

I didn't say it was his choice. But he turned the negative heat and went in the zone for like 6 months where he literally became the guy people had trouble booing even though he was a heel.:jawalrus: I'm sure if you look at the ratings from that run they would be a lot higher than they were prior to his return or after he left. That's something that can't be disputed. :manny: I already admitted that The Rock's whole gimmick is outdated at this point but you can never take away what he's done in the past.:manny: At one point he was untouchable and those strudel jokes were new and original. Everything he did was original back then. Punk could never do that - he just simply doesn't have it. He's not even close to the same level. Again, the only reason he's over or considered "the best" on the mic is because he has the permission to talk about whatever the fukk he wants when everyone else has to stay in character. :manny:

He rarely does "shoots" anymore and he still cuts the best promos in the company.

Dudes been top of the game for like 10 years on the mic.

Doesn't matter if he's an arrogant straight-edge jerk, a cult leader, or an in your face rebel dude pulls off promos convincingly more than most in the biz.

There's no way you can deny dude on the stick, like that's the biggest reason he got to the top.

Tbh, I'm not really into wrestling like that anymore and I don't watch Raw/Smackdown or anything like that. I've just been reading through TSC lately and it's gotten me interested again. I wanted to see what the hype was about CM Punk so I checked out a few youtube videos and I just wasn't impressed. Yea he has balls but he basically just got lucky. He wouldn't be shyt without being able to talk about topics forbidden to everyone else, imo. Just another mid-carder. I've seen the Nash thing which was cool but again, he's over there talking about The Kliq, knee surgeries, and all sorts of other shyt that no one else can talk about. He has an unfair advantage. As far as Sheamus and all the other stuff, idk because I haven't seen any of that. :yeshrug:
