Why is Camp Lo - Uptown Saturday Night rarely ever discussed as one of the best 90s albums ?

Right after the album came out they label (profile) went under and they sold off the hip-hop catalog
(profile now just an imprint was sold to arista but the hip-hop catalog was in limbo) camp lo no longer had a deal
I think arista eventually copped Uptown well after the album run was done but never signed camp lo
its crazy cause when the videos were playing on tv after 1997 they weren't even in the industry anymore

Great fukkin album... I don't think they get the proper acknowledgement cause the streets prob thought they had sugar in their tank. I remember Joe Clair tried to play them on Rap City about their lil outfits and scarfs and you could tell they was heated. When they came to do a show in my cousin's city back in the day, he spotted them at the mall at Dillard's shopping in the women's section. No cap. I'm not saying they really mo's... but just lookin at shyt from a street perspective, and that's usually the barometer that decides if dudes get proper legendary status in hip hop. Their fashion style did remind me of the 'Men On Film' skits from In Living Color, not gon lie. shyt has changed in younger generations, a la Young Thug wearin dresses... but 90's gatekeepers ain't tolerating the least bit of zest.
