You run into some gems occasionally that have a real cool chill-ass, jazzy vibe:

But alot of it does sound like they try to copy the same vocals and beat from Giveon, Jhene Aiko (they even copy her look down to being mixed), and PND. Still, folks at least try to experiment with the sound and subject matter.

My main musical gripe is that Trap music is literally deader than damn Disco. The same ten ad-libs, four beats, dumb-ass subject matter, and rappers that sound like they all came from the same recording spots from the exact same neighborhood have been played out for over a decade now, but as long as it keeps selling, it'll stay around Im guessing.

You need some Tone Stith and Eric Bellinger in your mix

I don't know if I'm presenting this in the right way.

But even all of these songs sound the same. One may have some other shyt sprinkled on it, but the meat of it is exactly the same. The same cookie cutter type beats. Same low tempo ass shyt. It's like they all basing their shyt off the same reference tracks :what:

I get it's supposed to be the same genre and all but this shyt is ridiculous, I know I'm not crazy :mjtf:

A lot of songs in the 90's sounded similar. It's what defines eras

That's no excuse whatsoever. Especially in 2021 where R&B consists of using the same recycled drum loops and 808 packs.

Hell, there was still way more originality in the 90s. And they were extremely limited by the few APCs that were on the market.

Today's music is too embarrassing to even be compared to 90s R&B. I highly suspect it has to do with labels not picking up anything that doesn't sound exactly like the next artist they signed.

Like I said there's plenty in that thread that doesn't sound like what you're complaining about

Legit everything in this thread sounds like what I was complaining about. And I'm not even being obtuse, how are you not hearing this?

Both of those songs are built around 90s tracks.

The first one is Brian Mcknight, second is Jodeci. Neither sound alike.

I'm not following your assessments here, but they jam to me.
