Because all everyone talks about is how much the war on drugs cost. I can guarantee it rakes in way much more.

No it doesn't get the government money, but it does get them control.

The more drugs that infiltrate America, the more police officers. The more police and drug saturation, the more arrests. The more arrests, the more court fees and incarceration. The more incarcerations, the more slav...I mean prison labor. The more prison labor, the more monetary profits. The more profits, the more lobbying and buying of candidates and judges. The more crooked Politicians, the more drug laws. Repeat loop.

100% on point. Our economy would completely collapse if all that illegal drug money stopped flowing. Our banks actually depend on it... Even the motherfukking Huffington Post will tell you that...

"America's largest banks can engage in flagrantly criminal activity on a massive scale and emerge almost completely unscathed. The latest sickening example comes from Wachovia Bank: Accused of laundering $380 billion in Mexican drug cartel money, :dwillhuh:the financial behemoth is expected to emerge with nothing more than a slap on the wrist "

It is an interesting question. We can send unmanned drones to do strikes daily in the middle east and violate sovereign countries airspace all the time in the name of fighting terrorism. The same excuse could be used and work in mexico quite effectively.

so if it wasn't for all that, the US military would be used against the Mexican cartels?

The cartels have way more money than the US govt is able to throw at fixing the problem, or even finding a solution.

Instead of having China make everything from socks to televisions, industrial corporations should have moved their operations to Mexico. This would have increased jobs and (theoretically), decreased the violence and immigration problem, along with improve our relations with our bordering neighbor. The US could have influenced this by giving tax breaks to corporations doing this, and since products don't have to be shipped so far, I would imagine cost would be somewhat comparable. I mean fukk, the labor is going to be cheap.

Sorry, I got off topic there.
