Dude just kind of became the background of already generic background music. First he sounded like a generic Wiz Khalifa, then he sounded like a generic Tyga (who I already felt was generic).

I’m glad he has enjoyed many years of success but the music was the epitome of overly crowded, public, family friendly, majority white people events, with a random white or mixed DJ who would sooner die before he stopped smiling. The kind of event where nobody is actually listening to what’s being played, they just passively hear the type of song and feel like they need to act accordingly (randomly scream “weeewwww!” And do cac dances). It’s just generic, safe, background music that’s guaranteed to make money.
The accuracy :dead:

generic ass rapper lol
"Kid Ink":mjlol:
people only like his songs cause of the features/hooks he has on em

That’s the magic. NOBODY knows WHY they like him. He’s just one of those interchangeable acts that you can on anything, plug and play.

The music (performer and production) is safe enough for any random venue or store. It’s “edgy” enough that non-rap fans and milky people can feel like they’re getting the “hip hop experience”, and they’re in the know. It won’t offend anybody, it won’t touch anybody, it’s just filler music to help paint your generic corporate sponsored experience.

Ask any random, who isn’t really into anything but radio hits, if they like Kid ink. They’ll be like “hell yahhh, I love kid ink…”. Ask them why “I don’t know”. Ask them what he’s rapping about and the answer will be the same. Ask him what are the lyrics to their favorite kid ink song and they probably just recite the hook, if they remember anything at all.

Ask them where they first heard him, and the answer will most likely be on the ambient speakers at a generic, brand sponsored, forced party/social event, probably while they were waiting in line to get inside the venue, get food or use the porta-potty. They may have heard it at a brand sponsored car show, a brand sponsored exercise event, a cruise ship, etc.

The music screams is straight programming lol. It’s there to make people who, don’t stand for anything, and don’t know shyt about shyt, feel like they’re at a cool party. It’s always played alongside Travis Scott singles, Drake singles, A-boogie with that hoodie singles, Polo G, Pitbull singles, Flo-rida singles, etc.

Chance the rapper used to get played at those venues until somebody actually listened and realized that he’s actually rapping about shyt sometimes and his music can be too “vulgar” to be safe. The music can’t be socially conscious, it can’t be too dirty, it can’t mention anything edgier than smoking weed.

I still spin show me :what:

:mjlol:
I just had to google that shyt to try to remember which song it was. I was harshly reminded that it was one the repetitive beats that made me start to HATE mustard produced songs lol. I closed YouTube out quick af and still have no idea what was rapped or sung lol.

I used to hear this shyt crazy at events in Seattle/Tacoma, and on the radio, around 2013-14.

Loved the YG album. I just wished mustard switched things up earlier than he did. It felt like he just kept remixing the same 2 songs and selling them to anyone who who was desperate to chart. He definitely had the whole radio/event space on lock in the 2010’s. Once you heard “mustardonthebeatho” It was over!
