Why don't marvel or DC do something fresh and do a straight up villain movie?

Yeah Marvel won't do it because Avengers and GOTG don't have a charismatic rogues gallery.

I'm surprised Loki got so much development, but he's not getting a solo.

It comes down to Carnage/Venom but it won't be rated 18+, so it's pointless.

Watchmen is as close as we will ever get.

The upcoming venom film will be rated r it's already been announced.


I'm really looking forward to it.

I really would have liked to see that sinister six film by drew Goddard that sony was doing.

Just to see how they would have handled it.

I think we may still get it down the road if the venom film is a success.

Dc Is Dark So they can do it Marvel? I dunno bout that with Disney At The Helm They Would Water it down to much defeating the point of a villain movie to begin with all the one liners jokes and stuff

Villains aren't meant to be protagonists.

You can try and add layers to them to try and make them more sympathetic but then you strip them of what made them so villainous in the first place.

There has to be at least SOME rooting interest.

I think it could work if you can write a book about villains I don't see why you can't have a movie about one. action movie heroes kill people left and right so if you put someone like Kraven or Deathstroke or Gorgon From marvel at the Forefront of the film it could work. I Think it would do best as Rated R Though

Well while we are on the subject of darkness, according to the Head of the DCU, DC has never made or done Dark movies. He's on record saying their movies have been "cool" but not dark like so many people love to tout. His example of a dark movie would be Batman getting raped and sucking a dikk in a prison from the origin ala Batman Begins. Seeing him basically train and become a ninja, he questions how is that dark, thats cool and who wouldnt want to do that?

beyond this, there are almost never movies about a villian with a goal to do evil, succeeding in his goal. i wanna watch a comedy about a guy who wants to kill people, then he just kills people and gets away with it bc he's good at killing people. like just Evil Captain America, doing what he does except as a bad guy. same premise but flip it. and he kills the "good guy."

but all main characters must be "likeable" and "marketable" and blah blah blah

She robs banks or just the rich in general. Yes she may occasionally look out for the unfortunate she's not above taking a life if it has to come to that and doesnt have regrets
