Why don't marvel or DC do something fresh and do a straight up villain movie?

I mean how many superhero movies we got now and we can't get one Dr doom standalone? Anyone else of seeing the good guy status quo? Ss don't count because it was trash and they were contracted to work for the us government so they were considered anti heros

Yeah Marvel won't do it because Avengers and GOTG don't have a charismatic rogues gallery.

I'm surprised Loki got so much development, but he's not getting a solo.

It comes down to Carnage/Venom but it won't be rated 18+, so it's pointless.

Watchmen is as close as we will ever get.

I agree that it should be done. It's one reason why I was so excited and ultimately let down by Suicide Squad.

I read one of the Russo's say Thanos is almost the main character in Infinity War. I think it would be cool if the first half of the film is all about Thanos, but I'm not holding my breath that they'll do anything like that. I just don't see it with the MCU.

So that leaves Sony, DCEU, and Fox. I could see DC making a Harley Quinn film, but I'm almost positive she'll be portrayed as an anti-hero and not a villain.

Villains aren't meant to be protagonists.

You can try and add layers to them to try and make them more sympathetic but then you strip them of what made them so villainous in the first place.

There has to be at least SOME rooting interest.

DC totally fukked up by not doing a LEGION OF DOOM movie first

they could have had Batman be the detective and figure out that Lex Luther is putting a team together and just follow
what Lex is doing by finding villains to join him ..

The Legion of Doom is what makes it necessary to create a Justice League

Marvel fukked up when they sold off Xmen to Fox cause Apocalype should've been the GOAT villain smh.
He's the one that could carry a movie since nobody is going to defeat him straight up

they'll just battle to a draw and trap him somewhere... He could've been the Marvel version of Jason Vorhees.. lol

and like Jason they thought they killed him... but he keeps coming back talking more shyt and fukkin' people up

I believe Dr. Doom belongs to the Fantastic Four franchise... Universal ?

Doom would be perfect if Marvel was able to do him cause he fits into the Anti- hero mold

I would say Magneto, but throughout the current movies there really isn't much more you can do with a solo Magneto movie.

Dr. Doom needs one because every single fukking incarnation of Doom in the films have been complete bullshyt and morphed Doom into some kind of whiny bytch.

I think Fox, if they get good writers and modernize the character a bit, could get a good Mr. Sinister solo movie going. It could involve Apocalypse, The Marauders, and could lead in to a Gambit solo movie. Plus it can tie in later with more Xmen/Jean Grey-Cyclops bullshyt that Fox will want to push down our throats.

"Would I want to see a sequel to this movie?"

I think once you do that, look at the reviews and what the audience reaction was.

I think something like this would be really cool, but you have to have the right character/actor and perspective. Maybe a good twist. Like a movie about Namor/Dr. Doom/Black Adam, becoming King losing a loved one (wife, children, family). Declaring war on whomever (corporation, Shield, America) and Avengers/Superman defeating them at the end.

Well,it did make 745 million at the box office and outsold civil war on home services (blu ray etc) and a sequel and spin off is already green light.


The only thing is the film did what @Norrin Radd just said and basically made them anti hero's.
