Yeah I get he's arguably more famous, movies made more money (without inflation adjustments), but after a certain dollar amount...to me you should want to make something that solidifies your legacy. It's like the athlete who joins a team to get a ring. You want something that lives beyond you. His money will do that, his wrestling legacy definitely will, his business ventures probably will, but I'm not nor any serious movie aficionado will ever put Dwayne in the same vein as Arnold or Stallone.

To me it's just crazy, because he could honestly could do it rather easily by just picking the right movies to be apart of. He could have his production company put it together as well. He's in this weird hybrid Arnold/Will Smith lane...he has the same charisma, but doesn't pick movies with any of the impact that either one of them do.

I get that it's not important to some people, and I get that I am trying to contextualize this from my point of view, but I would hate my legacy to be Jumanji (the original was way better), San Andreas (it's not even a top 10 disaster movie), Doom (could've been a multi-movie franchise in the same vein as Evil Dead), National Intelligence (ok for it is, but this could've been True Lies with the right script), Rampage (just, no), and high-jacking someone else's franchise...

Like he has Covid right now, say he died tomorrow...that's his resume? Part of it is the industry...but The Rock is basically "the industry" now, he can do what he wants and make it good.

If he happy with his resume then :yeshrug:

Somebody mightve said it, but the biggest reason is studios are better at parlaying marketing and endorsements, and they banking exponentially more on the brand and not the star.

You had to have a bankable star to sell to the chirrun to get the parents to by shyt. That 80s generation is all grown up now :flabbynsick: and we all got money to burn on the brands technology couldn't maintain before, plus the suits are all fans too...at least in the case of marvel :ehh:

I agree those type of action movies were new back than. I'm more into the action thrillers and miss those the most. Like the ones from Tom Clancy's novels.

Y’all are just going to leave out Steven Seagal? breaking elbows Kneecaps and legs every 5 minutes in Under Seige while singlehandedly taking out bad guys on a battleship

And clearing out the streets of Brooklyn, Out for Justice to find his friend’s murderer “ayos anyone seen Ritchie Lupo - youse picked the wrong fight “

I mean he was but just was never considered one of the greats IMO. My question to you is how you gonna leave out Marked For Death when mentioning Steven Segal

For me it’s just too many unbelievable moves these nikkas do in films

jumping over 10 cars while shooting down 100 men and 20 dogs

The Rock is my guy but him basically being a Marvel character in San Andreas and Skyscraper was :laff::laff:

Watching
It's a mix of increasingly outlandish cgi stunts and at least for the Rock he has a say in how much he gets beat up in his films.

Oh na I remember Segal:russ:

He was just always a bad ass, he never really had them training level up moments in his movies like that:lolbron:

Stallone, Van Damme and a few others would always either in the middle of the movie or close to the end have that moment where its just them working out or etc and we really dont see a lot of that in movies no more. I'm not a jogger but something about Rocky running in the streets used to make me want to put on some sweat pants and go running around the city:mjlol:

Too bad sadly, depending on the area cops may stop my black ass cuz "I fit a profile":francis:

Kind of the same thing with me and my older cousins. I'm a little older but these cats threw on Evil Dead and The Thing back in the day like it was nothing. The Thing scarred me something awful as a kid which is why I love it so much today and is one of the if not "the" greatest horror movies of all time.
