You can argue he's greater than both of them. But he was too radical for white people at his time and like you said, his thinking was way ahead of its time. MLK and X came to prominence when the country was moving toward the end of Jim Crow policies, so they had somewhat of a wind at their backs so to speak.

I think that all the time because I feel he got the ball rolling and setting the template for other civil rights leaders to follow.

He does get alot of respect on the reggae community though. But I'd agree that he was a bit too radical and ahead of his time.

True but i'm wondering why american blacks don't give him more props since he did a bulk of his work in the US and that he basically fathered Martin n 'em style.

Because a lot of us aren't ready to truly be independent of whites and rise and fall on our own merits. Whites dislike him because he exposed their true nature plus the fact that black degeneracy keeps lower class whites in line.

Because white people are actually the ones that are really pushing the legacies of these leaders out there to the general public. EVERYONE learns about Martin Luther King Jr. as a kid through public schooling plus holiday, movies, et cetera; a lot of people will learn about Malcolm X early as well through the same methods, Rosa Parks, etc.

Unless you're doing independent research, you're not really going to know much about Marcus Garvey.

And it also has to do with the eras they came up in. Malcolm and Martin were in the Civil Rights Era. A lot of Black leaders who came before them haaev been "phased out" of the memory of the general public.

from what I've read he was to far ahead of the mainstream black leaders like W.E. Dubois and the likes who wanted blacks to integrate into mainstream America and on the low support the American(white) system.. also throw in skin color, looks, etc. certain whites supported the back to Africa movement
