I think the wcw part is really small. Lawler is not his creation either and he never goes away..
He hates Ross for many different reasons - a combo of him being ugly fat, old, having bells palsy and how everyone else loves him infuriates him more.

Vince is a carny at heart, but he tries his hardest to get WWE away from that hillbillies tricking you out of your money image of wrestling. JR reminds him of this, while Michael Cole is more like smug cacs you might see on sports broadcasting (buck, cowherd).

I don't think he 'hates' JR at all... BUT he takes advantage of JR's passiveness.
Kinda like that friend of yours who you know will pick you up and give you a ride anywhere cause he's just generous like that. You don't have a low opinion of the dude personally, but if you wanted to go somewhere far out, he's the first and only friend you'll call cause you know he probably won't say no.
Basically he gives JR shyt because JR takes shyt.
If it was really some hatred over JR being from WCW, he would've never been the voice of the company for as long as he was, and definitely wouldn't have been head of talent relations. History says that when Vince gets someone from another company and wants to downplay them, they get downplayed all the way. JR is more known today as the cowboy-hat wearing "BAH GAWD!" announcer than he is for the fast-paced hold-for-hold announcer he was in NWA... which is the exact opposite of what Vince would've wanted if his intention was to bury him.
