I won’t lie. I have one problem tenant and in all honesty they aren’t that much of an issue one of those pay rent every month types but they at least put something on it...I’m not really tripping on it because it’s better to have a tenant than no or right now and the property management takes care of everything. Plus it’s a 1 bdr. If it was one of the 2bdr I would have an issue.

Some good points. Could you explain the benefits for citizens in allowing some industries to be "unAmerican" and stopping others? OR did you mean, no industry should be allowed to be "unAmerican"?
No I’m saying that’s going to be the main hurdle. This is a free market economy. No caps on anything, make whatever you want. If you want to charge 400% profit for life threatening medicine, go right ahead. If you want to charge 1.5 million for a limited edition lambo, go right ahead. If you want to charge $5000 a month for a piece of shyt, yes you can.

Besides the laws and regulations telling you what you can sell and what specs it must meet, you can sell anything you want for any price you want.

That’s why I ask people’s plan or wishes. You can’t even give Americans healthcare because people will cry about the fair market and government taking over. So how exactly do y’all think you gonna cap homes? Family homes, vacation homes, cabins, apt close to work, townhouse in another city where you split time on different coasts. Etc etc.

Americans will never let it happen. They will vote against their own interests because “socialism” and “Merica is a free market”. Look no further than any country with gov healthcare and compare to ours. That’s the advantages and disadvantages they’ll use for anything govt controlled

Props on being consistent by applying your reasoning across industries and accepting/reflecting the natural greed consequence of a "free market"

Because of Covid "stimulus" packages, bank/farming/auto industry bailouts, and periodic money injected into wall street...I disagree with the free market description

Just like with medicare/medicad efforts aren't anti-profits for health industry but pro-access to necessities for citizens, the housing market needs similar structuring/regulating so that exploitation/greed doesn't impact other aspects of society, like citizens can't afford healthcare OR unable to save money, because rent/mortgage is too high, thus the government safety nets will be further stressed

Middle class flourished when wages and profits had a "natural" relationship, it became "unnatural" when extra-profit(not just profit) became the sole priority due to wallstreet greed and government enablers

I agree fam. I’m speaking from the “voice” of the common American. All these things should have been passed. Rent control, stopping the banks with these loans, stopping people hoarding money, healthcare for all, etc etc.

Time and time again we hear these arguments as to why the free market should reign and the chants of socialism, even though parts of govt are socialized.

I wouldn’t be the one you need to convince. It’d be joe the plumber from a red state

I should've made clear that I was building on your observation about not allowing 2000% profits, thus you don't need convincing

Sadly, as this thread shows, joe the plumber isn't the only one that needs convincing about the need for housing market regulations
Supposed advocates against exploitation in other discussions, are vying for their chance at 2000% profits by trying to stir attention towards slumlords OR "folks madd cause they don't own homes"

keep the same energy in every discussion, so that everyone you're "empowering" has the same mindset/goals as you, but instead folks rather weave in out of activism at their leisure/benefit...manipulation 101
