of course tariq is going to charge money for his efforts. he spends thousands of his own dollars producing these films—if he's not charging a fukking measly $20 he's not going to recoup his money, which means no more films. Not only that, he's probably the only one in the "conscious community" who actually puts his own money up to fund and support other businesses, artists, falsely imprisoned black people, etc.

These are just my opinions, but my take away from this rise of the YouTube clique of black commentators like umar and such is that they are exploiting very real issues for personal gain and self aggrandizement. They get off on the power and control of telling black people how wrong their day to day lives are, and what they need to be doing, and all the ego gratification it brings.

I just don't think they are sincere people. In Coates' writing he is constantly questioning himself ; his world, so not only is his stuff breathtaking, but he doesn't present himself as a 'do what I say or else' omnipotent authority. I feel a dialogue when I read people like Coates that I'm a participant in.

Tariq Nasheed is another one of these "black leaders" who does nothing but sit on his ass all day and make youtube videos telling black people what we need to be doing while he does nothing. He's no better than Tommy Sotomayor besides not being as bitter, and hateful.

He just sells black based content such as Hidden Colors, which he's not forcing you to buy. I don't see the problem man. You don't like it? Don't buy it. I don't pay attention to him at all, he has his hustle, good for him. It's better than dealing drugs and poisoning the community, he's selling videos somewhat educating black people on our history (albeit a little shoddy at times).

Personally, I stick to actual scholars like Chancellor Williams. You want to know about your history? Read the Destruction of Black Civilization, and the Rebirth of African Civilization. Chancellor Williams (RIP) was an esteemed black scholar who died at the age of almost 100, his father was born into slavery and he was dirt poor. He wasn't even removed from slavery. I'd personally read the Destruction of Black Civilization, it's a must read. I'm passing that down to my kids. It's semi-narrative because he did field research in Africa and he talks about trying to observe what's going on in "post-colonial" Africa, and the parallels with the conditions of black Americans.

Give the bytchmade passive aggressive act a rest and explain why dude should be criticized for charging $20 to rent one of his lectures and how that proves he's scamming/exploiting black people.
