There is so much wrong with post its ridiculous

he did put New Orleans, and to be honest, the South back in the mainstream
he did sell that many records
he was the first to mainstream rappers dropping their own movies
he did make that much money as he caked off priority and really owned his own company
he put lots of dudes in houses and gave releases to dudes who would have never released anything
if the Ice Cream man shyt was truly stolen, how come Yuk and them didn't really go after P on some street shyt? Because even Yuk knew that you don't fukk with P...
....Master P is the best hustler is the game, period.
I'm not going to debate the putting New Orleans on thing, I'll give you that one. I was in New Orleans when Bout It came out so from my perspective, yeah it was a big song but Mystikal was king. Looking back though Mystikal had the city on lock and even went nationwide but he didn't open New Orleans up like P eventually would.

He did sell all what records? What I was saying was that he used to run ads in the Source back in the day showing the amount of records that were shipped and saying that's what was sold. A album that was shipped gold would say gold in the ad. It was a marketing plan which he's admitted to. If I'm not mistaken he also would buy his own movies/cd's to give off the impression that they were selling and move them up the charts which would draw interest in the project.

No he wasn't the first Rapper to make movies. I don't want to play games with you and use terms like mainstream.

I never said anything about how much money he made but if the record sales weren't there which he admitted to then the money wasn't there either, how could it be? There is a big difference in shipping an album to store and an album actually selling. Also I'm pretty much talking about the music, not his other businesses. I have no problem with his hustle or even some of the music. I just don't get how someone could come in and bite, be gimmicky and be wack consistently and never get called out for it. Not people get a pass like that from what I've seen. Like I said before though I guess if you make money then you can do anything in Hip Hop and be respected for it.

He gave artist houses but how many got royalties? lol Go peep the Feind Murder Master Interview that was posted here. In it he talks about artist not getting paid which is the reason the roster couldn't stay together.

XXLMag.com: You’re someone that had a lot of past beefs that also didn’t help unite the West. Looking back, where was most of that beef coming from?

Yukmouth: The first beef with Master P we felt like we were violated. We came in with “Ice Cream Man,” song and then two years later he did the same thing. We felt like he stole our whole shyt.

P didn't get a pass in the 90's No Limit just had one of the strongest cult fanbases of all time. To the mainstream/commercial world of hip hop in the mid-late 90's Master P was a joke. If there was twitter back then they would have got the same treatment that YMCMB does today.
no limit was only seen as a joke in the eyes of biased east coast fans that weren't trying to hear much of anything outside of the ea.st.

and no limit still had a large fanbase on the east coast. theyre the ones that made the south into a viable coast. funny how this is starting to become a lost fact.

- Lil Romeo came out before Lil Bow Wow? Link?

- I don't think so. I don't have a problem with him using shipped albums and promoting them as sales. I just don't see how everyone acts like he really sold that amount blindly.

- According to Mannie Fresh, Cash Money already was using the Bout it slang.

One year before P's Bout It dropped. Go to youtube and read the first two comments.

- I won't push whether or not he put N.O. on the map, I'll give him that now that I think about it.

- He was never a Emcees, no kidding! That's why I don't get the love, thanks for confirming that he's not and that he is a biter. THE Two MAJOR no-no's in Hip Hop.

- They did make SOME good music but most of it was garbage. Also, I'm not talking in past tense here about P. Everything he did I have a problem with then he is still doing now. For instance before he hooked with Alley he tried to re-launch no limit for the 1000th time and was copying YMCB.

Judging by these responses I can see that as long as someone makes money you'll give them a pass. I can't say there is nothing wrong with that but from a standpoint of the art it's sickening to see.

I don't even know why we were having an argument about new Orleans in the first place. master p put the entire south on the map. lets be real.

I didn't say lil romeo. I said LIL SOLDIERS. and im pretty sure a romeo album was in the cards regardless. P used to stay having him talk on records.

dog, nobody cares about the bout it slang. holla at me when UNLV makes a record remotely as good as the bout it SONG that master p put out. if p's joint wasn't an all-time classic, it would be just another local-yocal track just like UNLV's chit. same situation with the ice cream man record. I mean, im not condoning, but at the same time, like people said, its not like P was running around calling himself the king. and on top of that, his records were way better.

people don't care about master p tampering with his sale figures because everybody does it. he just had a different way of doing it. so what? and all his money was real. he actually had a lot more money that what was accounted for. but lets not get into that.

I don't "give passes" to people for making money. I could care less if that chit aint touching my pockets. lol. what I look like?

nobody said he was the first rapper to do a movie. he was the first to fund his own chit. and he was the first to do the underground hood movies. nowadays, theres like a new one being filmed every week, but master p was the 1st to do that. and he was the 1st rapper to own his own mainstream film company. this is common knowledge. nothing personal but theres just so much wrong with this thread man.

ye i don't care about how much money he made

music was :trash: can't rap & a biter.

If he came out in 2013 and was 97 hot guarantee 100% he would be one of the most hated rappers around.

The Tupac biting was a bit out of hand but EVERYONE was doing their Pac thing at the time. Sure Master P had a strong influence and all that but it is any worse than what 50 Cent did? Essentially the same shyt.

the man MADE something out of nothing. look @ where the man came from. you don't have to like his music or him as a rapper but you gotta respect that man though. he's an inspirational figure. if you're driven enough, you can fukking win.

but yeah, you are right though. he sucks as a rapper and he bit off of motherfukkers like all hell. however, he was about making that paper though. i don't think he ever gave a fukk about the music to be honest. he was all about the business. that's the dark side of hip hop though for those of us that love the music. i respect that man's business savvy BUT he did help fukk it up though like how puff did.

I was in the Army in Texas at the height of No Limits run. They dominated the 2 clubs in town and more then a few of my southern homeboys were copping bootleg No limit Tank pendants. :snoop: Proudly showing them off to each other like :obama: "Got my Tank, Dawg!" This was the era I was introduced to slang like Trill, Bout it, Hate on..., Wardie/Whoadie, etc. And Black and Milds. Ah yes. Good times. :ld:

I just think it's hilarious how he gets lauded for being the "biggest hustler" and "the best businessman" when No Limit went bankrupt over a decade ago, loss all the rights to the catalog, and he's followed it with nothing but an endless chain of failures...he's in that Suge/Dame Dash pantheon of washed up former rap label moguls that lost their fortunes and are shells of themselves...yet somehow, people seem to be under the impression that Percy is still sitting pretty on a couple hundred milly or some sh!t :heh: ... his most recent "denounce gangsta rap in front of congress....then run back to it in a last ditch effort to get hot again and bite the fukk outta Boosie and Rick Ross because I'm broke and the feds are seizing and liquidating my assets because I can't afford to pay off a $240K debt" flip-flop is some of the most shameful sh!t in recent rap memory
