One game was on PSP (Liberty City Stories) and the other was one game and several spin-offs. It's obvious if you didn't like GTA 4 due to mechanics and physics, that you probably wouldn't like the spin-offs. Red Dead Redemption was a great game, so although I didn't particularly care for GTA 4, I'm still going to see what 5 is talking about.

GTAIV suffered from its critical acclaim IMO. That's not to say its a bad game (or even average), but it definitely created a huge group of disgruntled gamers. If you play over GTAIV, you'll notice that its not all about just getting calls from Roman or monotonous missions; Rockstar really put in a lot of work into IV, and while some aspects might have fallen flat, you have to also realize that this was the game that took the entire franchise to a different level. Seeing the improvements made between GTA IV, its expansions, RDR, LA Noire, and Max Payne should have every fan excited for GTA5 because it seems like as though Rockstar is poised to finally, after many years of development, complete and release vision that was first presented in IV.

OP forgot vice city stories which was dope imo it brought back some of the gang wars type feel and it was back in Vice City which is my 2nd favorite GTA location after San Andreas. I don't even really consider BOGT and LATD seperate games from IV tbh. GTA V is gonna murk all these other games dropping this year so it doesnt even really matter

Ive had this discussion plenty times... Where GTA4 fukked up is the missions... The actually story while not the best really wasn't that bad and it was kinda interesting... coulda been better though... it was those repetitive ass missions that fukked the game up... it was like they didn't even try because they spent so much time focusing on the details of the environment.. if the missions are dope in GTA5 Rockstar will have another classic on their hands

GTA IV is the most overrated game of all time and prolly always will be cause the kind of dikkriding it got for being a below average game is gonna be practically impossible to beat....look at these ratings. Grand Theft Auto IV Reviews and Articles for Xbox 360 - GameRankings You'd think it was a top 10 game of all time. That's pretty much the day video game media lost all credibility. I wouldn't have it close to a top 100 game of all time. Maybe not even top 1000 and if that then somewhere near the back end.
