People or media actually said it flopped? Whenever you hear sequels, I'd always assume the first was a success.
Movie would of been John Connor of Mars statusSpeaking of difficulty marketing a movie, could you imagine the face of the marketing guy who watched 2001 A Space Oddysey, and the studios task him to market the film.
Breh must've been like
Nobody cares if he's crazy. He's dropped plenty of movies after the couch and he's drooped nothing but heat sinceBad marketing... Americans also still think Cruise is a crazy person. I loved it, my favorite summer movie from last year.
I don't think he'll ever get his shine back stateside, he's still popular abroad though.
It had heavy marketing but the direction of the marketing wasn't very well done. Not sure what people are talking about. The marketing for this movie was awesome and heavy. Tons of TV and trailer spots, and the trailer was great.
This rests solely at the feet of bad timing and the mess that was 'Oblivion', which was Cruise's last movie before this came out. They both looked way too similar, and after 'Oblivion' bombed, people didn't want to take another chance with 'Edge of Tomorrow'. I'm glad I did though, it was such a nice surprise.
