People or media actually said it flopped? Whenever you hear sequels, I'd always assume the first was a success.

Bad marketing... Americans also still think Cruise is a crazy person. I loved it, my favorite summer movie from last year.

I don't think he'll ever get his shine back stateside, he's still popular abroad though.
Nobody cares if he's crazy. He's dropped plenty of movies after the couch and he's drooped nothing but heat since

Not sure what people are talking about. The marketing for this movie was awesome and heavy. Tons of TV and trailer spots, and the trailer was great.

This rests solely at the feet of bad timing and the mess that was 'Oblivion', which was Cruise's last movie before this came out. They both looked way too similar, and after 'Oblivion' bombed, people didn't want to take another chance with 'Edge of Tomorrow'. I'm glad I did though, it was such a nice surprise.
It had heavy marketing but the direction of the marketing wasn't very well done.
It was basically like the marketing department pushed it like "Hey, moviegoers! Remember that Tom Cruise sci-fi movie Oblivion from last year? Well here is another Tom Cruise sci-fi movie that is just like it even though it really isn't!"

Much like Pacific Rim, the trailer and advertising was horrible.
Thoroughly enjoyed it when I watched it one night on the spur of the moment.

Just watched it for like the 5th time. Movie is fukking incredible.

They shouldn't have branded it live die repeat. It makes it sound like a cheesy action movie. When realy its a super dope science fiction movie with great action. I guess though action flicks probably make more money then science fiction so what the fukk do I know about marketing :deadmanny:

Great acting, great story /premise, great action, well paced. I fukkin love it
