If floyd stepped into the octagon its over in 30 seconds

No participation trophy there
this is ridiculous. especially if we're talking prime floyd here. some of the best footwork and reflexes in the history of sports. definitely better than anybody in mma right now. nobody in mma has the reflexes, counter punching, or speed of a prime floyd mayweather. and as we seen on saturday, floyd made one of the heaviest puncher's in MMA look like he was feather fisted. it was almost shocking to see how much harder floyd punched than conor. so just imagine what floyd would be like in 4oz gloves. if those white boys with average athleticism and reflexes can learn how to defend properly vs kicks and takedowns, then floyd would be able to learn that shyt fairly quickly. you can talk about floor game all you want. but first they'd have to get him there. prime floyd's footspeed and reflexes alone would make it a bytch to even get a hold of him at all. yea he may lose vs conor in mma. but one thing is for sure. he has a much stronger chance to win than conor did in boxing. cause regardless, floyd will still take the speed, punching power, and boxing advantage into an mma fight. where conor took absolutely no advantage into the boxing match. one punch from floyd in a 4 oz glove and conor is unconscious.

breh when i was watching that boxing match all i was thinking about was how easy it would be for conor to take floyd down.

i think floyd in MMA is a bigger joke than conor in the boxing ring just because floyd doesnt have ANY experience with any martial arts. conor started off as a boxer and is a stand up fighter in the ufc.

and he'd be stealing.

and not be standing around.

so you have to remember why he was so hard to beat.

he can get to you.

but you cant.

God damn. I think I'm going to incorporate this into my wrestling training. That's dope.

How long have you been boxing? Have you done amateur/pro fights?

What are your thoughts on MMA?

I first started boxing when i was 9 , my dad was the one who took me to a boxing gym, he used to do tai kwan do , there wasnt a tai kwan do class in the area so he took me to a boxing gym that had a kids class..... been boxing since then

I had 28 amateur fights, lost five

broken my jaw in two places I have titanium screws in my jaw permanently , broken my nose twice , broken my hands twice .... also pissed blood a couple of times when i got hurt with body shots

never been knocked down

I stopped amateur fighting when i was 27, you usually wont get an amateur license after the age of 30 .... im 36 now .... but i regularly spar amateur fighters or novices ....

been tempted to do white collar boxing , but from a few fights ive attended a lot of the fighters are arent that experienced or good, i doubt i would get anything from it plus my wifey would hit the roof

I have mad respect for MMA, we get a few MMA fighters in the gym who are trying to improve their stand up game

hardest thing in the world is stepping in a ring, octagon, circle or square to fight knowing at some point you are probably going to get hurt

Grappling would pretty much nullify any advantages that Mayweather has.

Mcgregor has over a decade of grappling experience and there is no way Floyd could bridge that gap in one training camp. Connor would take the fight to the ground whenever he wanted.

Conor isn't comfortable on the ground either

He's basically a boxer in mma

The Truth
I belong to two boxing gyms, one in the UK and the other one is in Nigeria......

The way you train or are taught is exactly the same....

Over the years boxing has narrowed the training plus conditioning to a science.... there are no variations

even when you do roadwork, you can tell when you are out running who the boxers are because whatever the weather they are always covered up wearing a hoodie........ boxing training is designed to make you as hot and as uncomfortable as possible.... i hate running but whatever the weather when I run i wear two hoodies , two t shirts and sometimes a fat suit ..... no water while you run

as i mentioned in another thread you train in such a way that you can still box well while you are tired,

for example usually when you spar its at the end of a heavy workout session rather than at the beginning while you are relatively fresh...

you never usually just spar one person, you might go three rounds with a guy, they tell him to step out and someone else comes in and spars you for another three rounds, so while they are still fresh you are already tiring, then they will tell you to step out afterwards and the first guy goes in to spar the same dude....

there is nothing worse than being so tired that you cant even move out the way when the punches are coming towards your face but thats what we train for, and trust me unless you are really hurt they wont stop the session just because you are getting battered ....

Ive never met a boxer that doesnt look decent in the first couple of rounds.... its after round three you find out who is who
Repped

I never noticed it, but im always wearing hoodies in the gym. Even in the military, I always wore the long sleeved uniform while doing PT. It just didnt feel right to not wear anything over my head or covering my arms

I think I got it from when I was boxing as a kid as well. I used to do TKD and thought that Gi shyt was weird af. I felt like I was wearing pajamas.

But yeah, everything else sound correct af

Boxing training is like nothing else.

100 degrees outside in a hot ass gym with no ac, in a tight space n coach gonna make sure the door closed.

Show technique
Drill technique foor what seems like forever moxed with random punches, bobs and weaves
Finish drilling then do 3 minutes of calisthetics

Show technique
Repeat

Repeat repeat repeat.

End class with more calisthetics targetting abs.

Spar :mindblown:
