Going to my first real boxing gym tomorrow

I wanted to do bjj just off seeing that ankle pick above but I want at least 2 and a half years of a solid boxing foundation first

you talking about some top flight of the world shyt.... im talkin about 2 nikkas gettin em up .

you tryna de-escalate shyt , of course you grab and restrain like a CO

in a fight...if i have a chance i have no problems putting on a hold with the intention of putting them to sleep or snapping something

now with regards to BJJ its effective as hell but there are situations like krack mentioned where you cant be rolling on a ground trying to do something because if its not a pure 1 on 1, nikkas leave themselves open to get fukked up

I’ll offer Randy Couture vs James Toney as a small example of don’t underestimate grappling. It’s not as simple as well I’ll uppercut them when they shoot for a takedown. A power double isn’t the only way you can end up on your back getting elbowed to the face.

MMA closely mimicks street fights in the sense they start on the feet but there’s all kinds of ways to end up on your back and people that strictly box aren’t at all prepared to get their legs attacked or what to do if you get ankle picked or some shyt

I’ve seen too many brothers get manhandled simply because they only had hands and some smaller cat knew basic grappling. We gotta stop looking at grappling as some ineffective form of fighting. Brothers at the least should learn how to fight off a clinch/takedown attempt or at LEAST how to get back up
Never seen this before :picard: Romero snatched him like a crocodile.

It all can work. I do muay thai as my primary go to. But i have been grappling more in judo and bjj. My coach always says every fight starts on the feet but 90% go to the ground(idk of thata accurate but whatever). He's a high level judo and bjj practitioner. His throws are godly.

Do you feel like Iike Judo is as good as BJ?

And that smaller ppl can take advantage of it?

At my gym my coach does a judo mixed with jujitsu class. Its pretty dope. And definitely with your 2nd question. Im 6'1 and weigh 160. So im not some brolic dude, But i can toss dudes around with ease and use their bodyweight against them. Never thought i would do grappling because i loved MT so much but its essential if i do want to do MMA.

bjjj ain't even at the top of grappling :mjlol: wrestling is. :mjlol:

Ain't no secret they're trying to sign nikkas soon as their out of college or olympics mean while the gracies are getting their heads bashed in mma at the top level. .

I've seen wrestlers get brown belts in 2 years in bjj .....a bjj nikka ain't getting shyt in wrestling in 2 years but Ls on Ls.

 don't sleep on Kron and Roger Gracie in MMA

I thought BJJ doesn’t have stand up or good takedowns

BJJ is the evolution of take downs and ground attacks which came from Judo...Gracies took Judo takedowns and added
a technical aspect of ground attacks which specialize in submissions and that became BJJ...
