Why do you guys talk about religion so much

I sit back and look at all the threads that are made about religion in the higher learning section of the Coli. And I laugh at the fact that this is suppose to be where the intelligent thread are. Most of the threads made about religion are disrepactful and silly. I assume that many of you really make the threads to feel smarter then you really are. Most of you guys know that you're dealing with people that have limited understanding of religion and a high school understanding of sciences and philosophy. So when you make your disrepactful threads about relilgion you know people will take the bait and you can feel smart.

religion is such a divisive topic, i dont ever discuss it with friends and relatives. this is just a outlet to talk about these things with no repercussions in my everyday life.

I often wonder this as well. Especially as it pertains to atheists. If the concept of God is so absurd and ridiculous then why spend so much energy on it?

If someone thought Superman was real and I thought he was fake, I wouldn't dedicate my life to proving his fictitiousness. I'd most likely just keep it moving.

If God is so absurd why even entertain the idea? My only conclusion is that it must not be that absurd after all.

The backlash against religion comes from the fact that it has been used and threatens to be used more to shape public policy. There can't be freedom of religion (or freedom from religion) in this country if Christianity (for the most part) dominates public policy.

Because religion is so pervasive in our country. You can't even get elected to a position of any political power if you don't pledge your allegiance to some God. Superman believers are not demanding that we teach the mythology of Superman in our science classes so that's a false comparison.

People who dont believe in God want to be absolved from the responsibility of morality so they attempt to find holes in the logic of morality and Gods laws. Sadly, this way of thinking only leads to a society of filth. These devil culture worshipping atheists dont even realize that they need the comfort of a moral society as established by the God fearing because most of them arent built for the end result of a demonic nation.

i think a shift is beginning not just in america, but the world over, where religion is seriously beginning to be questioned and walked away from. just look at the fukkery goin on in the catholic church right now, news in the science world like the higgs boson, etc. the better question is why can't we talk about religion? it's more reason now than ever
