Why do white people struggle with the concept of "light skinned" "dark skinned" & "brown skinned"?

White people view black people as one object or “thing.” That’s why they’ll confuse certain celebrities who look nothing alike or fail to recognize nuances in our shades.

black people struggle with it too, i've seen people call people like ashanti light skin. someone said naomi campbell isn't dark skin...some black people literally think light or dark and act like there's no in between
Ashanti is light skin though

I don't know what this thread is about and really didn't bother reading the OP (I'm high and i gotta take a sh1t) but I just came here to say it annoys me when biopics have darkskinned black people playing individuals who were light

like that Thurgood Marshall movie, I admire the actor, he's dope....but Thurgood was not a darkskkinned black person

it just looks dumb
