he gonna bounce back wit skwad :blessed:
They still were shytting on him after the trailer :francis:

I remember there was the "So thats it huh, we're some kinda Ghostbusters." So thats it huh, we're some kinda Batman v Superman"

It was a :pachaha: but :snoop: moment for me. Damn Will keeps becoming a target for stuff thats not even his fault for real.

New trailer in two weeks. Hopefully the movie and his performance are good when it comes out in August. We need Will to bounce back with Suicide Squad :to:

the point is he ain't as popular as he use to be and his films aren't doing the bank they once did, I already alluded to moves that he's made that while financially beneficial in the short term are proving to be mistakes for his long term career.

That fine...I just don't see the relevance of people that caught major cases or had drug problems :yeshrug:.

no, fans of Will Smith know what he is capable of when given good films and good roles. He can truly elevate and carry a movie. I want bad boys, MIB, independence day, enemy of the state will back.

Those are all trash though :jbhmm:

I think the real question is has Will Smith been in a great movie? Filmography is looking a little funny in the light :jbhmm:

it's called a broad statement, Americans are always bloviating about 2nd chances yet I can't recall one black that fell and rose again, will is black and American :takedat:

I'm watching Dan LeBatard and they're shytting on Will Smith. Dan says that Big Willy has been failing for a decade. They all agreed that Focus was horrible:dwillhuh:. I mean it was not a classic but it was enjoyable. When you look at his last few movies the only one that was definitely a failure was After Earth. Can anyone explain why the perception is that he sucks now? It is a very common opinion on Will Smith.

Total Budget
12/25/15 Concussion (2015) Sony $25,928,750 $26 mill- $35 mil
2/27/15 Focus (2015) WB $53,862,963 $159,062,963- $50 mill

5/31/13 After Earth Sony $60,522,097 $243,843,127- $130 mil
5/25/12 MIB 3 Sony $179,020,854 $624 mill- $225 mill
12/19/08 Seven Pounds Sony $69,951,824 $168 mill- $55 mill
7/2/08 Hancock Sony $227,946,274 $624 mil- $150 mill
12/14/07 I Am Legend WB $256,393,010 $585 mill- $150 mill
12/15/06 The Pursuit of Happyness Sony $163,566,459 $307 mill- $55 mill
2/11/05 Hitch Sony - $179,495,555 $368 mill- $70 mill

:jbhmm:What's going on here?
nah people hate on Will Smith mostly due to his son. Like what kinda of father wouldn't try to put their kids on? Focus is a typical safe will smith movie and my guess is they might be hating on badass Margot Robbie starring opposite dude than anything else.

The only two movies you might say were below average was After Earth and Hancock. And Hancock was surprisingly a success at the boxoffice.

Of COURSE their going to hate on the most commercially successful black actor of the past 20 years. If the Cosby debacle has taught us ANYTHING it's that no matter how "safe" you might be once you step out of the bubble and do something against the status quo they gonna give you your njgga wake up call.

For Will it was After Earth. The FIRST mainstream science fiction film written, produced, and starring TWO black leads, and of course it gets absolutely shyt on. Now After Earth was no classic, but it CERTAINLY wasn't as bad as the critics made it out to be, the ending especially I thought was very good.

But of course it's nepotism. In Hollywood, where Charlie Sheen, Nicholas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Ben Stiller, Liza Minnelli, Jennifer Aniston, Jeff Bridges, and Miley Cyrus exist....its JADEN who is now the unholy representation of nepotism in fukking HOLLYWOOD:wtf:

And then it's Scientology, a "religion" that Will has NEVER claimed. But in Hollywood where Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Jason Lee, Nancy Cartwright, Jenna Elfman, Kristie Alley, and Giovanni Ribsi exist...it's WIll who receives the brunt of the criticism and critics make After Earth out to be some sort of Scientology propaganda:wtb:

I ain't no critic breh but that shyt was trash. I'm not going to get on my black horse tornado and fight this one with you. A bad movie is a bad movie I don't care what color you are. And will should've known better. But if it was as bad as you say then he wouldn't be getting any awards buzz or nods for concussion. Sometimes when people say you've fallen off its because you've fallen off. Which again he acknowledged and admitted. So if he can see it, why can't we?

I will never ever understand why he chose Wild Wild West over the Matrix, never. Did he just not read the scripts? is his agent a moron? what was the reason?

He said he didn't get the matrix and if he did do it, he would've done too much with it because he wasn't able to get out of the way and just let the material be at that point in his career. He would've been "big Willie" instead of just being neo. It needed someone like Keanu. And I think wild Wild West looked a lot different on paper and in conception than the final product so he signed on for one movie and got another. I'm also sure he figured it was a sure thing with he and Sonnenfeld teaming back up

Back to the tom cruise comparison since its apt, when people counted him out he had a franchise to go to, one that with the right story and right feel could be successful. And that's what happened with ghost protocol. Remember they were grooming that one as his exit, thinking the franchise was dead because of him and that he was toxic. Jermey Renner was supposed to take over the lead but then ghost protocol was dope and a hit and then we got rogue nation. Will just needs a big successful flick maybe even an ensemble where he can shine and do his thing and after earth along with any other misstep will be a memory

Breh he was getting shytted on for all kinds of things OUTSIDE of the actual movie. They even had a long ass article trying to draw parralels between After Earth and Scientology teachings, when Scientology was created by a goddamn SCIENCE FICTION AUTHOR. After Earth's premise and outline was nothing that Matrix, Star Wars, Star Trek, or any other sci-if movie hadn't done. Again not saying After Earth was as good as those flicks but from what I saw it wasn't the cinematic abortion they tried to make it.

I liked MIB 3 and Focus personally. HATED Seven Pounds though. Liked Concussion very much looking forward to Suicide Squad (after some initial skepticism)

I'm really interested in what he decides to do after the Suicide Squad hype, Will he go back to action oriented roles (Bad Boys 3 is ALWAYS on the table) or try another "Concussion" type character film?
