u should do your research. its advised, and for good reason, to have 20% before u buy a house. the people who didn't, well, u remember 2008 dont u?

I know my thing on purchasing..I just spoke about FHA because the prior comment was on a 20 percent topic.. Many people don't know about anything other than conventional loans so I put it out there..

you cannot take equity out on an apt...and you never stop paying rent...

and I rather owe the bank than be someones tenant...

and the people complaining about having too much space...buy a condo/townhouse...

also right now with property being so cheap...you can literally buy a home in a short sales for less than 30k....I know a guy that just payed $17k cash for his home and he has a nice 5 bedroom...he lives in it...but if he wanted to sell it in a few years he would probably get three times his money or he can just rent it out for as much as he wants and make enough money to live in another place if he wanted to....

maybe my mindset is from doing real estate as a kid...but after becoming a homeowner...I could never see myself going backwards...

Home ownership becomes more important the closer you get to retirement age. Once you retire and you're on an fixed income having to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars per month is gonna fukk you in the ass.

This. If you buy a house in your 20's and only make the minimum payments, it should be paid off in your 50's. Some young people were able to bounce back when the housing market took a dive by taking second jobs and getting modifications. A lot of older people don't have the same luxuries. I couldn't imagine being 60 years old and upside down on a mortgage. Just take a look at this 101 year old lady that was foreclosed on. The banks don't play when it comes to getting that money.

You got the right mindset people talking about risk this and using it as an excuse will never have the good feeling own owning there own ****. Life is full of risks if you look at the successful people in life the took them

Ill own homes, just not the one I live in.

Owing actual investments >>>> living in a home praying its an investment :win:

Already stated you don't own the Land. This isn't 1822 your kids aren't going to grow up in your house and taker over when you die. Like someone stated why when you rent you can call someone and they fix your shyt. IE if its new shyt like furnace or a sink. Other than that for other shyt you can do exactly what you want and not be hassled.
