Why do some black people claim obviously mixed people as black?

@IllmaticDelta

Fair enough if that's how you choose to define yourselves, it's not really any of my business as I'm not an American. Btw, you can be mixed race and look more like one parent's race than the other. I know a girl who is mixed race and she looks like a white woman, however, she'll never deny that she's mixed race. It's probably the same for the people you posted above.

No, but I have family that do and quite frankly even non-blood AAs whose ancestry is tied to this land is my family, mixed or not. That will never be broken because of some dumb conception of Blackness.

No offence, but it's not really dumb if the majority of black people in the world adhere to it, is it? That's a rather ignorant opinion. From your post, I can understand that this matter is a very delicate one for you but do try to be civil.

Blackness does not matter when we share the same tribe. You seem to get it in this instance.

It kind of does. He's not too removed from his blackness/'Igboness' so most people will accept him. The problem arises when/if he has children with a white/non-Igbo woman as many will not consider their kids Igbo, even though they 'technically' are. It's the reason why many of our men are encouraged to marry within the tribe.
