I bet just from looking at you I could tell you're a somalian, ie big forehead, straight hair, straight nose etc. black people don't tend to have those features especially not straight hair or lose curly hair.

the ones that have straight hair are mixed race. they are descended from non-african ethnic groups that have been absorbed into the native tribes. this is something most people don't know. East Africa is actually a very diverse region when it comes to races of people. Because of the close proximity to Asia, there are groups descended from Indians, Arabs, and Persians that have assimilated into the society. These are groups with straight hair and atypical african features. However, the VAST MAJORITY of native somalians don't have straight hair. they have hair texture more typical of black folks.

now its definitely not as kinky as west or central africans (primarily due to ancient amixture with caucasian groups going back thousands of years). but still within what would generally be considered "black hair."

the Afro is pretty much the most common hairstyle of east african men.

I agree. Look I aint gonna lie. Yemen and Djibouti is only 20 kms apart. Both Ethiopians and Somalis where hisotrically seafaring poeple. Its nots difficult to think that perhaps theres been intermingling but this was thousands of years ago.

In the Somali community, light skinned Somali women are held in higher regard as in most African communities. If I got paid for every time I've heard my Somali brothers refer to a dark skinned Somali girl as "crispy" or "crunchy", I would be a wealthy man :JDNCAC2:

black features = dark skin AND tightly curled/kinky hair. its the reason why pacific islanders like those in the solomon islands are considered black but sri lankans are not.

homey is right about straight hair not being a black feature. he's just wrong about his execution by implying straight hair is typical of east africans. its atypical and largely the result of non-African admixture. just like any other black group with similar features.

Not really. They are all dark brown to caramel actually. These are all Habeshas(Tigray, Tigrenya, Amhara)

Men have 25% thicker skin than women.Men don't have more melanin.The thicker skin just makes their skin appear darker.
The women in the video were lighter simply because modern universal standards of beauty equate light skin on a woman with femininity.It has nothing to do with biology.

Umm what? You been hittin the pipe? Men dont magically have darker skin because its 'thicker', and the women in the video use skin bleach. Women don't mystically become lighter than their men.
