interesting concept here but im trying to figure out what made people count down years for and then all the sudden start counting forward?

back in the times of B.C is this something they really did or is it only more recently that we labeled the times that way?

Because back then different societies would have different calendars based on local events. Crowing of a king, Huge famine/prosperity, ect

The decision was made to promote parity in record/time keeping between societies. They went with the idea at the time which was picking a very important event, Jesus' death.

Back in the times of BC there was no such thing as "BC" that was created after they decided to use Jesus' death as the staring point for the calendar.

There is actual evidence of Jesus's existence unlike Islam with Muhammad.

Obviously "they" are the Christian church, which is why they used Jesus' death as the starting point.

John 14:6
cause it dont mean shytt to them except a way to put events on a timeline

But the timeline is based on the birth of the Lord and Savior. Shouldn't they find another way to tell time? :lupe:

Using "The year of the Lord" when you don't believe in it seems kinda strange. :ld::why:

i hear say that "they" werent the christian church though at all and that the "christian church" wasnt exactly something you could even find in a single place because around that time the term "christian" didnt exist

could you do me a solid and point me toward which racial denomination and region they would have been/were located at?

At the point when the BC/AD concept was created. The Christian church did exist and it did hold a lot of power.

Here I found this

AD, BC, BCE and CE

The use of BC and AD for numbering calendar years was invented by Dionysius Exiguus in 525 AD. His purpose was to determine the correct date for Easter under the direction of Pope St. John I.

It took about 400 years for the dating system devised by Dionysius to reach common usage.........The widespread use of the Gregorian calendar and the use of BC and AD throughout the world came about thanks to the colonization practices of Europe and economic pressures of a world-wide economy led by Europe and the United States

What kind of sick agenda are you on. You are a lock n file Black Christian if I ever saw one. One every single issue and debate you are lock and file. shyts crazy.

It's just that whether you believe in the stories or not... the Event of people believing and the existence of a person with so much impact that the effects are unmeasurable... is a convenient starting place for humanity and because the domination by Western nations was motivated, in part, to Christian justifications..... the bc method of keeping time was adopted by most humans.

Because time, itself, is a concept that we created isn't it only fitting to measure it by another concept we created??

Surely if Christianity is a fraud why can't nations outright disregard BC/AD and just admit a new method? :rudy:

the important thing is that we have one method. it's not gonna help anyone having a bunch of different calendars in use

going back to the 'metric time' thing, we have enough issues with people not using the same scales for distance and weight
