Why do people say J Cole makes boring music?

His singles are always the weakest joints on the album
Cole's story is boring
Breh keeps his personal life extremely private
Doesnt do a lot of features and when he does they rarely memorable

I'm a fan but I can see where the label comes from.

Dude is just plain boring...its rather simple. Ok, let me elaborate on this subject. Cole is pretty much a mainstream Murs. They make the same type of music but Murs actually has wit and personality with his shyt. I mean lets peep the differences:

Relatable music without the excessive cursing and forced pretentious stuff.

Hell Phonte been Cole before Cole was even on the radar:

Phonte is a great comparison and I also like the minstrel show more than any cole project minis Friday night lights

There's 2 types..

1. Weird super-fans upset that whatever rapper they champion aren't receiving the type of acclaim or mainstream success as him (which is why you'll 100% of the time see nikkas like Blu and Phonte, who have nothing to do with the nikka - names get brought up when he's the topic..)

And 2... trolls

I know it's troll shyt because everyone who shares this opinion is vocal about it and voices it nonstop whether it's on twitter, forums, etc.

And it's because they'll get the reaction they want..

It's the only plausible reason really because why else would you waste time voicing your displeasure for something you don't like? That's literally retarded.

It's like me going on the internet to tell the world why I don't like Pharoah Monch... every day... whenever his name is brought up.... like for what? I don't like the nikka, so I don't listen to the nikka. And that's the end of that...

But for some reason, nikkas seem to think J. Cole existing is a slight to their favorite blue collar rapper. So they feel the need to attack the nikka in hopes of... we'll, that's really the question... don't really know what they're seeking to accomplish. the nikka ain't going anywhere at the end of the day...

cole can make some standout tracks, but a lot of everything else fails IMO. like he can't hit a nice stride across most his music, it's either dope, or it sticks out because it was made a single, or it's forgettable. i really like cole but his albums don't move me to really play them much outside those first early listens.

Bruh, @RawDro you are clearly the faggiest poster on this site. All you do is make Fake deep threads asking basic ass questions. Then when you get called out for being such a fukkboi, you change the thread title like in that Joe Budden thread. Kill yourself please :hhh:

I like Forest Hill Drive but his latest album was an actual chore to sit and listen through & I only did so cause Im a student of rap. There's something about his last album that completely lacked a sense of urgency and vitality that I can easily find in projects from truly great rappers. I think its related to his beat selection and boring ass rapping cadence on so many of the songs)
And reading various hip hop personalities over the years try to compare this man to Nas makes me angry, its not a comparison he deserves or warrants AT ALL.

Cole got that music that's good for the soul

Also: Is that Love Yourz video official or fan made?

Because for every good song he has, he has another lifeless song. And it really comes down to two things: (1) he takes himself too seriously and (2) he overrates his production skills with are only slightly above average on his best day. However, his fans identify with him and so he gets away with it.

Tuna fish sandwhich rap.

That being said I'm proud of him, I'm glad his fans like his shyt even if I don't. I prefer him to be at the forefront of mainstream rap than I would a lot of people.

Outside of the Legends like Jay z and Wayne. Cole is my favorite Rapper ever.

But the people that dislike and criticize him have a lot of merit.

He gets excused for making mediocre albums, mediocre singles, WOAT SINGING and rapping over wack beats where every other rapper would get killed for doing it.

I think a lot of the backlash about Cole is what @Larry Legend is alluding too. People feel he shouldn't be as big as he is due to his output.

4YEO is an embarrassment tho and the next Cole album should be very interesting
