Yeah everyone should go to college though. Those two years. I went college I made so many connects. I can go to any big city in America and get a job, because of the people I met in college. Got them on Facebook. When I go to Vegas and live in April. I already have a job waiting for me

everyone should go? nothing of everything if for everyone.

and not everyone wants to work for a company.

I see college for... doctor, teacher, lawyer

and a few other occupations I may have forgot, everything else you can do solo
Try
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Countless others

Again, not knocking people who didn't go to college but the world we live in is not as simple as some of you want to make it seem where can do anything without decent formal training

Unless you have something you really want to do which requires a degree, it makes little sense to go to school. You're better off picking up a trade; getting a CDL, try civil servant jobs, or teaching English overseas.

It's fukked up because in 2013, Wikipedia can fill you with more knowledge than school in 1999 (and earlier)

Other than the social shyt, school was meh for me. Wish I woukda started working outta high school or went to a cheap state school.

i don't know how is it in the US, but in Canada if you don't have a post secondary education then :camby:

i always hear people saying "fukk i should have gone to school .. i wasted my life " etc etc... In the US there are more options so more people are willing to do shyt jobs at lower wages. In canada, standards are much higher. You need that education.

This whole entire thread is full of responses from people whose entire perspective is working for other people to attain success. Going to college is a very honorable thing, however it is not not the only to be successful in life and it is not for everyone. Especially black males. I really wish our community would push entrepreneurship more to the youngins.

Buddy,

Going to college doesn't deter you from being an entrepreneur. The problem is too many people go to college and major in bullshyt and expect to come out with a miracle.

  • In college you learn skills and sciences.
  • In the years after college you may work for a company to improve these skills because let's face it the lab hours you spend in college are just introducing you to the shyt.
  • After a few years in the industry when you may have perfected these skills you can venture out on your own and create a startup company as an entrepreneur since by now you have the skills and know how

The problem is too many people find these good jobs and get comfortable and don't try to be their own boss.

I studied Engineering in COllege. I was then offered a job and took it only to realize what i learned in college was merely the basic skills and theories and that your real life exposure teaches you even more. But had I not have that preparation in college most of this stuff would have been over my head. In the mean time Several of the engineers that were my mentors when I came into the company have since gone on to start their own companies and sometimes take contracts from the company we used to work for.

Now you're gonna say well they could have done that right out of college. Oh really? On What equipment? The thing is these companies have the resources and dollars to these equipments that we may not have access to outside of a college campus or a real live system. Now tell me what company in their right mind is gonna let some random "entrepreneur" to come in and sharpen their skills on live production equipment. Name them. Don't worry, i'll wait

College is a great place if you utilize the resources you get there and make the most of your experience. Not everybody needs college but most people do, it also depends on what kind of career path you want to persue.. it opens you up to new connections that may be able to help you once you graduate plus you never know you might find your future husband/wife there as opposed to meeting someone when youre drunk at the club:blessed:

If you go to college on some antisocial shyt only going to class and going back to your dorm/home as opposed to getting involved, volunteering, doing internships, joining groups(doesnt have to be a greek org), etc. wtf do u expect to get out of college besides a degree?:stopitslime: sometimes its who you know rather than what you know
