If you say "EDM" is wack, you're saying juke, footwork, jungle, trap, and gqom are wack, and can you honestly say those genres are wack with a straight face?
trap music is the shyt out of atlanta that jeezy and t.i. and those people were doing. Yall gotta stop with this new bullshyt definition of "trap".

Some of the EDM examples that y’all including myself have been posting got significant elements of that vocal Soulful/New York House, Deep House and UK Garage that I really enjoy on the reg :noah:

I like some Trap EDM but I don’t like listening to it for an extended amount of time tho.

I guess Minimal House can fall under the general umbrella of EDM. This is my most favorite example of Mini-House and how I got introduced to this very eccentric style of House....It’s kinda spooky too..When I first heard it I was like :ohhh::dwillhuh::merchant::ehh: PLEASE wear earphones or headphones for this in order to experience a similar feeling.

Only if that shyt is produced by cacs themselves. DnB as well as Dubstep are both originally Black music and had their shine in the mid-90’s to early ‘00s and early to mid ‘00s respectively before cacs got their soulless hands on them.

Plus, I don’t view DnB (at least the original Black version) as solely EDM...I view it more as a form of Breakbeat mixed with elements of House, Techno, and Reggae with Hip Hop being a distant cousin.

Yes, I know the original drum and bass came from jungle/dubstep which are both black music. But the shyt they call drum and bass now is purely some headache inducing cac shyt meant for lames and those popping pills.

I'm not seeing how you see elements of house and techno in d&b.
Reggae + D&B were made for eachother. Pretty much spawned the MC heavy Jungle scene.
Hip hip is more like a brother than distant cousin to D&B. Simple math lets you mix seamlessly between the two given hip-hops typical bpm range anywhere from 80-100.
Hence-why you see so many MC's spittin over it or a guy like Aphrodite remixing "Passin Me By" and shyt like that.
If you're talking the soundscape behind the structure of D&B as the "elements" ie the spacy, dark, quirky and atmospheric undertones-then I'll buy that. But D&B in it's purest from, is just that. Strictly a breakbeat.
And that's why you'll see Mixmaster Mike, Craze, Rob Swift and all them hip hop dudes spin and incorporate it in their live sets. Every time I've seen them spin.
I did that shyt all the time too.
That's just my viewpoint coming from a DJ tho :yeshrug:

But this shyt they're passing off as "EDM" now is :scust:
It's pop and club shyt that's easy to dance to and sing along with if you're one of those types of heauxs :manny:
But none of it is D&B.

Mainly when it comes to sampled vocals and the echo effect you get from them is reminiscent of House and old school Techno music along with that spacey atmospheric vibe, that’s how it is to me at least.

1st Round Playoff Exits
soul-less metronome cac music.
For the most part yes, but it depends on the artist. There's one cat I came across a couple years ago that makes pretty soulful shyt.
It's funny in interview he describes his music as electric soul and rhythm, but his fans think it's an alternative form of EDM, because they have no idea his music influenced by r&b, jazz and blue( influenced by black Artist). A lot of organists on his squad are black too.

Peep this track and tell me it isn't fire:

Now imagine this he switches this up into a live performance:
Here's another dope soulful song:

Now here's that song during a set:

Cacs don't even know that they're listening to R&B / Jazz ( :mjlol: ) and I didn't know I was listening to electronic music ( :dwillhuh:)

I'm very big into EDM

I go to festivals and stuff. Most of what I currently produce is EDM

There's so much EDM out there that's impossible to hate on, you should check out more songs before writing it off

And yeah the Aoki track you posted is specifically for a festival environment. Playing it at a bar wouldn't really give the same reaction
