or just more control over the nexus line.

Keep the mid-tier and low-end devices for those who just want a smartphone but don't wanna pay the premium for a flagship... let the individual OEMs design their own high-end devices, if they wanna target that market with their proprietary software on top of android's base, but Google should OWN the Nexus line.

Yea they need to have more control over the nexus line.... smh @ verzion taking 6 months to release an update on the g nex. So what u want about apple they handle updates very good

wait you are talking about the CDMA nexus device aka the nexus S and sprint/ verizon Galaxy nexus?? I think google is moving away from the carriers. Nexus line and carriers= failed nexus. Carriers dont even promote the nexus anyways so i dont see the point. LTE is cool but its not a deal breaker for me. If the GSM nexus already have android 4.1.2 and the verizon/ sprint nexus doesnt have it yet. Who do you blame google or the carriers. Is google suppose to call verizon and say push out the update. Difference between android and the iphone is hardware difference, software differences, 1 phone released a year and OS version. So thats why the iphone can get immediate updates from carriers they have 1 phone to maintain. While android its a billion phones

How many iphones are on the carriers right now??? I count 3. The iphone 4, 4s and 5. Apple is in charge of the others. Now count the amount of android phones released on those carriers since 2007 :rudy:

android release way too many phones. which is a gift for consumers, OEM and google but a pain for the carriers to maintain.

That's the carriers fault. The GSM version that's not sold through carriers get the updates right away. The Nexus line doesn't sell well enough for Google to strong arm the carriers into updating the phones when they want to like Apple does. The Nexus line may be there flagship device, but the majority of consumers can care less about it. I'd rather them skip the carriers altogether and sell this device themselves through the play store.

Google have no damn power vs the carriers. They dont even pick the OS that motorola is using. The carriers said change it to stock android and we will end our business relationship. Verizon blocked google wallet now they are releasing their own shyt called Isis. Carriers dont give a fukk about updates bro. Its like a car dealership. they want to sell u a new car and abandon you

Yes they need to leave the majors alone. Its been a failure.

They own motorola so they are still on the major carrier network. Motorola phones are close to stock.

Nexus line should be sold for the cheap via the playstore...build up the device section. $199 gsm nexus >>> $199 with a 2 yr contract

I think the android tablet space is the worse one of the 2. Its filled with no name OEM and garbage device. Samsung could dominate if they relax and focus
