Worthless Loser

I don't understand this. If someone is about to jump off a bridge and end it, why does a random observer attempt to stop that person? Why does the random observer feels he/she knows what's better for the person's life than the actual person? I would say it's actually selfish in the sense that the observer wants that person alive when the person clearly doesn't want to be alive. So you attempting to force your will on the person that just want to be at peace.
The person thought about it and made the decision they felt was best for the life. I understand.
RIP to those who have made that choice over the holidays. I wish the best for their families.
