Drakes heel turn must be studied :wow:
Imo Drake’s heel turn doesn’t need much studying. It’s the general public that needs more scrutiny. Drake has been following the same formula since Views. His topics have been the same three (difficulties with women, betrayal and jealousy from his peers, and struggles with fame and money). Despite that the same public that has turned on him for those things calling it played out supported it when he did on Views, More life, dark demo lane tapes, and certified lover boy. Besides if you look at Hip hop in the last few years especially with the content game, they turned it into WWE. It should have been apparent that Drake was turning heel once Her Loss dropped. In fact, Drake in an odd way telegraphs his trajectory in all of his songs even down to the beef. In fact some of those same criticisms mentioned of him in the beef he acknowledges several times throughout his discography but I’m heavily convinced most people do not sit with albums and listen to the lyrics of these rap artists. If they did, what happened this year shouldn’t have been a surprise. None of it should have been.

he started talking about sliding on the opps during the pandemic with the tootsy slide song :scust:

i dont listen to his rap songs. i only like the controlla type vibes but even that "mob ties" song was cringe as fukk back whenever that dropped. hes been slowly getting more "Street" ever since 2015/2016 and then he just jumped pout the window these past few years :scust: and even admitted hes a now self-proclaimed gangster on some song my brother sent me. i dont know the name but he literally said "i wasnt gangster until now" at 38 year olds

Yeah the most commercial rapper ever followed the trend of what was popular in music. People talk about Drake’s lyricism devolving as well as his subject material. I laugh because I’m like Drake sounds as of the time as anyone as his lyrics are deep reflection of how people sound today.

Rappers make the transition to self proclaimed gangster because that’s the type of mainstream music that the general public has slowly moved toward over the years. People try to be obtuse about it but I noticed even J Cole had to change his lyrics to reflect it. It becomes a chicken and egg situation. Do these artists make this type of music because that’s the music they want to make or do they make that type of music to stay in the game because despite people saying they want different music the numbers never reflect that. Ppl can throw out Kendrick. But an outlier should never be the metric for judging the whole group.

Soulja Boy been false flagging for years now…

I don’t take rappers like that seriously especially when we seen em dancing all in the videos on BET after school.

If u was a cartoon character on your first album, u need to be a Cartoon character on your last because the way we start is the way we gonna finish.

Now that I’ve noticed it, Wayne is an another one. Dude was rapping about moving coke on C2

Drake ain’t never had to put in no work…

Let alone been behind bars, even had to go through some nights without food.

Dude has been sheltered his whole life.

At least Biggy dabbled in the streets for a little bit

And Wayne actually grew up around the shyt and around street nikkaz lol

Drake was a child actor living in a Jewish neighborhood and he thought Toronto slang was “ignorant.”

He didn’t even learn how to properly say the N-Word until he was 28 years old 😂
