I've been dealing with Japanese people for nearly 20 years. Your lil seven years don't mean nothing to me, patna. :pachaha:

If everyone else is saying something different, why do you cats never think it was just you?

I'm not trying to deny your experience, but seems like something *you* went through. Not all Japanese people are the same, and perhaps the ones you encountered gave you static.

I've found it that if you speak the language, you are 10 times more likely to have a better experience with Japanese people. That was always my in. I learned in college, and even back then, when I could barely string a sentence together, I was able to pull females like I was fishing with dynamite.

Skill issue?
Had no time for Asian folks they as long as everyone else was extremely racist so I just stood with the sistas.

But more power to you if you succeed in that lane :mjpls:

Well yeah, cause Filipinas are overwhelmingly interested in foreigners, that includes brehs.

But there's a subsection of Japanese women that EXCLUSIVELY fukk with brehs :sas2:

I've already talked about them before on this board. If you need that info, just say the word :myman:

Couldn't be further from the truth. Get your advice from brehs that's actually spent a significant amount of time there and speak the language.

Brehs like ME :martin:

I literally have an entire vlog series about Japan, from Tokyo (Shinjuku, Akihabara, Asakusa, Odaiba) to Kansai (Kyoto and Osaka).
:dead:

Seems like we should ask a Black person that had to grow up there, not someone whose bottom line in tied to the tourist industry and the perception that they aren't racist. Imagine a Black person from Russia coming to the US marveling at how it wasn't as racist as back home.
I feel like that “they love us shyt” is only when you’re a tourist in ANY country. Do they love you when you are here to stay for good, open up businesses and get involved in policies? How about when it’s a group of you and your population is growing and more are coming? Or is it okay when it’s just one of you every once and while?
Even if they lived there for an extensive period of time, they didn't put down any roots or rock the boat at all, of course you had an easier time when you didn't buy land, engage in politics, put your kids through school, etc.

It’s pretty obvious that black culture is appreciated there….from anime and manga being more inclusive to video games….the younger generation are leaving that xenophobic shyt behind which is good

Hell in Dragon Ball currently Goten and Trunks got two black friends in high school

Progress

Shyt, I usually don't bring up the fact I do YouTube myself. There have been a few that ask "oshigoto wa?" (what is your job), and sometimes I dance around it, and sometimes I tell em. When I do tell them, they be like "sugoiiiii" and then move the fukk on :mjlol:

I like it, because I can just be me, and they fukk with me based on my goofy ass personality, and the fact they can actually communicate with me. There isn't a HINT of golddigging, especially because I don't have any of my cars there.

I pull up to a date with an American in the States, bytches eyes LIGHT UP. It's always funny, but disappointing at the same time....

There was a few chicks from Kansai that we had a little difficulty communicating, though. But that was because I only speak Tokyo dialect, and they speak to me in Osaka/Kyoto dialect. I prolly should learn that shyt...

Sigh.

America really got my people twisted. It's sad :francis:

I've said this before-- racism in Japan is NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE BLACK.

It is because YOU ARE NOT JAPANESE.

There is a subtle difference there, so let me try to explain.

They treat everyone the same-- White, Black, Hispanics are on the same level to them. Asians are on a tier below Black, White, and Hispanics, but that's due to historical beefs. It's not a good look, but it is what it is. Japan was who they were in the past, and they gotta deal with the blowback of that from Chinese and Koreans, so sometimes, they try to fight fire with fire, and yes, that manifests as racism towards other Asians. That ain't got SHYT to do with us.

For mixed kids, and Black kids that grow up there, the issues they face, while entirely REAL, are issues of not being ethnically Japanese. The White military brats and other Asians that grow up there have the same stories. Black people get a little more curiosity because of our hair, and skin color, yes, but you are not facing systemic racism on the level of the United States in that country.

Cops in Japan are not pulling Black people to the side specifically, like they do here. You will not be killed for being Black or half Black in Japan. You ain't getting denied service BECAUSE YOU ARE BLACK.

Stop looking at it through the lens of an American/Westerner, and actually get out there. Experience the people, and see how they react to you. I've done this. I'm on camera doing this. I've spent nearly 2 decades interacting with these people.

They cool as the other side of the pillow.

Yes, you will never be Japanese to them, but who gives a shyt?

Xenophobic and racist.

Your anecdotal experience is blinding you to the fact that both can be true, you didn't speak to any of my examples, you rehashed the exact same point because you have no answer. Your novelty experience in Japan based on your job isn't enough to tip the scale, you're a travel blogger of course you are going to be biased, you'd have to view them favorably to be interested enough in the first place.

What a high bar you set for them:russ:

My current best friend is half Black half Japanese, military brat born in Yokosuka. Met him in college. I occasionally stream with him, so if you follow my streams, you'll hear him.

Back in college, he dated another half Black half Japanese chick. She was born in Okinawa.

Both of them contrasted the type of sentiments they received in Japan and the kind they see here in the United States. My boy didn't stay in Japan as long as she did, being a military brat and all, but he was there long enough to see how they treat Blasians.

He told me he's had nothing but good experiences as a kid in Japan :yeshrug:

The chick on the other hand did mention she had to get snuck into her grandparents house when she was young, for fear of them revealing they had a Black granddaughter. This was 35 years ago, and they were the older generation, so you know how that go.

But she's from Okinawa, and they're WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more laid back about Black people than mainlanders. Okinawa as a whole is incredibly laid back. She told me she ain't ever had a real problem growing up Black in Oki.

Mind you, I asked these questions because I was learning Japanese at the time, and I was curious how I would be perceived there as a Black American.

I'm not a travel blogger, I've made travel vlogs. There's a difference. My work is literally centered around film. Click the channel.

Like I said, I have had experiences with Japanese students here, and then later in my life, experience with Japanese people IN JAPAN.

I'm curious, though, because you speak as if you know anything about them-- have you been to Japan? Got any proof you've been in the country?

Anybody can handwave personal experiences on the internet, but my word holds much more weight than yours because I've posted multiple pieces of evidence of me actually interacting with Japanese people, in real time, speaking their language in different regions and on multiple occasions.

What you got????

You're making the claim that Japanese society is not racist based on your personal experience from work and speaking to your friend, that isn't enough to prove anything except how you felt in Japan. I didn't make any claims you did. You would never accept that word of mouth bullshyt when speaking about racism in America, so don't do it for other countries.

They hate us and want to destroy us yet reap the benefits of the culture and influence. Black folks better be careful how they relate and move with foreigners
