I feel like wrestling found me. I didn't find it. I really believe in how the universe works and for whatever reason, I just never have gotten away from it. All of my friends grew up watching it but eventually left it. Not me.

I was introduced to wrestling by a classmate when I was five back in 91. He would always bring his WWF action figures to class and we'd play with them. He put me unto WWF Superstars on Saturday mornings and I have been a fan ever since..

It was live action fighting which as a young breh how could I not watch. I had my action packed cartoons, but I knew that wasn't real. But this had actual humans so it was real or so I thought that first year or so :heh: After I knew it was fake, I just continued to watch because it was entertaining and athletic enough for me to always check out. And once I got internet access and discovered that the backstage behind the scenes drama is even more interesting, it just became something I'd probably never fully stop paying attention to it (I don't watch as much, but I always check TSC to see what's up).

I’m sure all of us have gotten hit with this before. Mostly people saying it’s fake or that it hasn’t been good since the Attitude era.

For me, I inherited it from my grandfather. He would watch Memphis wrestling every Saturday so I started watching it with him. We finally got cable so then we would switch between the Monday night stuff. The wrestlers of the new generation/attitude era soon became my favorite superhero’s over the marvel and dc stuff I was watching before. The characters were over the top and as a young kid a lot of the raunchy stuff you’d see was mind blowing. The stories, the drama, the moves, the music, the entrances, the taunts, the catch phrases..it all just came together.

I eventually fell off around 2002/2003ish but came back full time in 2011. The product is definitely not as good as it had been in the past, I’ve went back to kinda part time status, but when wrestling is done right I don’t think I’d pick any other legit sport over it. Like if I had to choose wrestle mania against the super bowl or finals I’d pick mania every time.

The only drawback to being a fan is if you’re black and you realize how :mjpls: the industry has been and still is. There have been some gains especially the past two years but still far behind considering two international Japanese wrestlers just won title shots at mania and an Indian champ was crowned a few months ago.

Bruh i legit grew up similiarly! My grandfathers on both of my parents side loved wrestling. The one on my moms side would tape all the Attitude Era stuff and we'd watch Memphis Wrestling on Saturday mornings whenever id spend the night over there. My other one would ALWAYS watch Smackdown and play wrestle with all the grandkids.
