it's true that Japan and Germany both have, at the very least, embraced other cultures that wouldn't have happened before WWII. the youngest part of black culture, hip hop, is loved by the youth in both of these countries.

IMO South Korea is beating Japan in terms of technology and innovation. Japan seems to resting on its laurels as the 90s tech country and not going past there. Fax machines are preferred over emails by many Japanese companies. Wi-Fi isn't as prevalent as you might think in Japan. and good luck finding a global ATM in Japan.
