They could've easily been where Khaled is at if they would've kept going with it. Flex came out with a great joint with volume IV in 2000 and Clue in 01 had a monster joint with the Professional pt 2, wtf happened after? They just said "f it"? Them 2 had as much juice as Khaled does today, they could've had anyone collab on anything, would've been some classic records especially cuz Flex knew who to line up who :yeshrug:

Clue? yes. Flex? No. His studio albums were never as good as Clue’s. And he wore Fubus :scust:

i remember he had everyone f*cking with him and he basically could pick anyone to be on those albums. You wasn't f*ckin with volume 4??

My opinion? I think Khaled having sway down south as some of these guys were getting their footing played a factor. Clue & Flex really didn’t have any roots in that burgeoning scene

Not only that, but Khaled's over the top personality helped endear him to a wider population, especially with his Snapchat antics.

I think Flex was already making good money at Hot 97 + hosting parties and various things that the album game wasn't worth the grind. I also think the Drama 2007 raid probably shut the door for good. Flex really spent his energy on mixtapes and not albums.

Clue, like Flex, was trying to lay low after the Drama raid too. I also think Desert Storm kept him quite busy too. I remember the Hard Knock life tapes where Dame tried to get Clue to hurry up and finish what I think was the Backstage mixtape. He didn't want to grind that hard.

Khaled quit radio for good after We The Best.... he was in the game 1000%.

Whoo Kid and Green Lantern had the connects to do albums like that as well but never ventured off into it

I think the Jadakiss phone call altered GL’s career I remember he almost had a Jay Z mixtape

My Pops Forever RIP
1. Clue and Flex still have day jobs and never walked away from that (and they had other shyt. Clue was a VJ and label owner, Flex had his car business). It's the same reason why DJ Envy abandoned putting out mixtapes himself and locked into The Breakfast Club.

2. Khaled being a producer was always in the studio.

3. Clue got swallowed up in the Roc-A-Fella breakup which is why he was done after The Professional Pt. 3

4. Someone else said it. DJ Khaled was tapped into a scene that Clue, Flex, Kay Slay, etc. didn't have. Add to it all the Down South connects he had as well as being part of TS, he could drop tapes forever, and he has.

Snapchat and that leap into social media saved him more than anything because even he was drying up after that YMCMB run. Once he became a human meme, it gave him a second wind that he's running with. Clue and Flex felt like DJ's from an older time period and in Flex's case, his fukkery is tied to his show.
