I ask this question because technology advanced within the past 70 years fairly quick if you ask me. But why didn't it advance centuries ago? And maybe if it did, technology will be 3 times advanced then it is now.

its advanced at a quicker rate in the last 20 years than it did in the prior 50

you just arent looking in the right places

i think people had to get to a point where they could actually have the time to dedicate to something like technology. for a very long time in human history the vast majority of our time was spent doing things like growing food, hunting, dying young from an arrow to the knee, etc.

one of the major advancements that helped us leap forward was created by a man named Fritz Haber:
Fritz Haber - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

long story short he invented a process that allowed the world to grow a lot more food so less people needed to farm...more people focusing on other things like Tech.

the science he used to make this breakthrough was based upon the discoveries of others before him and so on.

at this point technological advancement is going forward at an exponential rate and i don't think that we can absorb it as fast as it is created.

all of those things are human technology :rudy: even rudimentary hunting. Without our ancestors hunting meat for food our brains wouldnt have developed to the size they are now

Fritz Haber invented the Haber process which is the sythesizing of ammonia which is necessary for fertilizer among other things

^^^the basic ideas for how computers work dates back to the ancient greeks using props that used a wooden cylinder with pegs that as they rotated would release ropes :rudy:

ideas on flight date back far past the wright brothers with just the simple observation of birds, modern propulsion is a byproduct of the explosion and discovery of organic chemistry(19th century)

i could go on and on

you are missing the point.
hunting is ok but raising cattle is better. when people started raising there own animals this was a big step that allowed for other advances.

this example is parallel to the Haber process of fertilizing crops...less work and more food is a major advancement that allowed for all sorts of advances in the world and each of those advances lead to other advances.

it's like a snowball rolling down a hill getting bigger and faster.

You're underestimating the impact of hunting, domestication doesn't exist without hunting

Randomly quoting some process to say that prior tech wasn't important is ignorant

simple answer really,

we captured an advanced alien species who gave us the knowledge that spur this technological revolution.

WE'VE SEEN THAT OLDER CIVILIZATIONS DID HAVE SOME EARLY TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES BUT BACK THEN WHOLE CITIES AND shyt WOULD JUST GET WIPED OUT AFTER WARS OR BY DISEASE. WE LOST SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE FROM WARS AND DISEASE.

This. Plus adding in periods of time like the dark ages when learning was stalled or even suppressed for centuries at a time.

A lot of it also has to do with wars....if you look at technological advances they all happened in regions which were relatively at peace. So people could focus on bettering their lives instead of killing each other. For example a lot of technological advances happened in Egypt > Greece > Rome which were the biggest empires of their time. But after they broke apart not much progress happened in their particular region. Like Europe falling into the dark ages after the Roman empire broke apart and most of the progress happening in that era which happened in the middle east. Then you have the Renaissance and industrial revolutions which also happened when there was basically no wars in those areas.

People concerned with knowledge were so wrapped up in the philosophies of Aristole and Plato that they couldn't imagine that there were other ways of thinking about the world. Once people started questioning status quo surrounding the great Greek philosophers then a more modern view of the world began to flourish.

Now wars did destroy some important ancient knowledge but we shouldn't forget the reality that many scientific advancements have happened because people were trying to find the most efficient way to kill other people.

This....just take the example of the amount of breakthroughs in new technology during WW1 & WW2 compared to the eras preceding those conflicts...when nikkas get ready to drop them thangs on ya ass u gonna think of some shyt
