aside from the fact they were murkin in the comics, the sharp weapons are for robots or inhuman creatures (since raph and leo are the best fighters) while donnie and mikey take out the human henchmen witht he staff and nunchuks

Really. That change must have happened late in the shows run because i dont remember him using a grappling hook at all but i see its on the wiki page.
