Why Can't The MCU Do Super-Powered Fight Scenes Well?

their street-level fight scenes are really good with MCU Cap, Panther, Bucky, etc.

but when it comes to high-tier super powered characters like Thor, it's a bit lacking. I thought Infinity War took a step in the right direction but after viewing the Captain Marvel trailer, it looks like they're scaling back again. I was expecting some Superman-esque stuff from Captain Marvel, but she looks like a street-leveler that can shoot energy beams.

this is one area where the DCEU really shines. they know how to do proper fight scenes with these high-tier characters and make them look really powerful. they add in little things like shockwaves and Superman breaking the sound barrier when he flies & punches. little details like that add so much more weight & gravitas to fight scenes.. MCU just doesn't know how to do that it seems.

Oh I think I understand now. if they let Hulk and Thor cut loose like they do in the comics then the movies would short. That goes for a lot of characters in comic movies. Even in DC movies. Also I think budget plays a major part. Infinity war had a bigger budget than the previous films and that's why the fight scenes were epic.

but do we have any legendary iron man fights? thor fights? hulk? i wouldn't put any of their fights up against MOS final scene

Because other than the punching Zod in air and neck snap..... I can’t remember too much from it.

If a hero pretty much washing a villain, cats can’t say “oh the villain was weak” but then when the hero is struggling or barely defeating a villain “oh the hero was nerfed”

It’s like those 2 cards constantly get played depending on the agenda

i think, again, we are talking about the scope and scale of super powers... here's the first fight scene with super powers






that's goddamn 4-6 minutes of steady fighting and fukking shyt up... the effects, the destruction, the actual reactions from people and not campy joking time... we just watched infinity war with ironman/strange vs children of thanos.... they might have fukked up half the block.... these dudes blew up a small town with a wrestling match.. then the last fight, two people destroy all of manhatten.. even the way they took down the planes was like hulk did it, yet somehow better... and this isn't even the final fight... that's another 10 minute long ordeal

yet we skip to marvel again.... first avengers they fighting a huge alien army, and don't even cause the same amount of destruction... like i said, it's nitpicking... marvel definitely my favorite.. but lets get some more, i know this sounds crazy..... realistic superhero fight scenes




edit: couldn't even remember thor vs hela... this is great superhero fighting?? a gloried sword fight with two gods

i was thinking that one myself... that would be the best super vs super fight they put out, not counting infinity war.... that's not good for like 15 movies

nah... Infinity War was dope. The fight with Ebony Maw was dope

The fight on Titan especially between Thanos and Doctor Strange was a classic.

I think Man of Steel still has the best super powers type fight scenes but that's cause Snyder excels at that shyt

Yeah Snyder is a damn good cinematographer. Arguably one of the best action scene guys in the whole industry since he did 300. I sometimes wonder where he would be if DC had just hired him to do their fight scenes. The DC Universe's issues go way beyond Snyders lack of directing ability.

Yea that fight was the only one with that feeling of 2 god tier characters going at it and felt like there were casualties. This is one of the main reasons i love MOS cause even supes taking off felt like it would knock u on your ass.
