No one's defending that type of behavior, which you seem to think. Not all situations are survival, some are just outright malicious and ignorant. Ignorance breeds violence and irrational behavior. Can I give you a reason why that person did that? Probably not. But power, respect, anger, ignorance, stupidity all plays a role in street life and these things happen frequently that will never make sense to any of us other than the parties involved.

This shyt goes all the way back to slavery. Divide and conquer and "keep em ignorant" are literally the oldest tricks in the book. I find it truly amazing how those basic ass principles are still wreaking havoc on black folks to this day. I have worked with young gang members and drug dealers and jack boys and the story is pretty much the same...it's all they know. They don't really value themselves or life so thusly they don't value your life or the fate of the community as a whole. Honestly I can't even be mad at them because they honestly just don't know. I take issue with those amongst us that do know better who either do nothing or worse yet actually contribute to the ignorant shyt that is going on for selfish gain. There is no need to "beat up on the hood nikkas" but we gotta stop acting like "hood nikkas" define who we are. We gotta stop questioning the blackness of people who speak well and seek education and aren't "down". We gotta stop taking every criticism of shyt that warrants criticism as a personal affront and realize that the way things are and the way they have been for years is fukked up and change needs to happen. The most frustrating kids to work with weren't the ones that were just dealt a fukked up hand and went for what they knew. Often times they were the most reasonable ones who were willing to seek change. It was the kids that were good students that came from decent homes that turned to that street shyt because being a good student from a nice home was considered lame and got them nothing but ridicule that gave me the most trouble.
