Why aren't people offended when media calls Obama the first black president?

AFRICAN=DADDY is from AFRICA
AMERICAN= Mother is from AMERICA

AFRICAN AMERICAN

what part of that dont you understand? he's more african american then any of us black folks.

Yea I don't get why cause he's 50% white that means he's not the 1st Black President. The fact is Obama is the 1st man of COLOR to be President. He married a Black Women and his kids are 75% Black. So a Black Family is in the white house. Obama is the 1st Black President. When Obama went school he wasn't viewed as mixed or half white. He was a "N!gga" period. Obama views himself as a Black Man also. Sure would American vote in a 100% Black man? that looked like Obama dad or Wesley Snipes? who knows but the reality is Obama is the 1st Black President. The fact his Father is from Africa, like full blooded African with no white mixture does make Obama have strong ties to the Black Race period.

So when black folk (mostly women) say "Oh dat girl ain't black she is mixed" even though she is half-black, and we agree, that is OK? But, when it comes to Obama he is our black president. You don't see anything wrong with that?

It seems the definition of what 'black' is varies from person-to-person.

when someone says "Oh dat girl ain't black she is mixed", they are just hating and they know it.

also, alot of parents of mixed race kids are fine that their children identify as Black because they know that society will treat them as such.

Negativity (Kayfabe)
the only people I've seen insist on calling him mixed are pretty racially uncomfortable (bordering on racist) type dudes

the basic truism is that pretty much everyone is 'mixed'

but yes his personal history does provide a lens into these issues, a kenyan+white woman is a different background from two AA parents

This

If you have a Black parent, in America, you're Black.

Call it whatever, but, race isn't scientifically define (we are all 98% the same), it's socially...

:comeon:

When his mom/grandma went to his PTA meetings in Hawaii how do you know he wasn't considered mixed?

Negroes acting like Hawaii = Deep South.:heh:

I think his "white side" needs more respect for raising him and making him who he is today.

Please explain. It may sound simple but it is more accurate than black parent = black.

Last year I discovered my great great grandfather on my mother side was a mulatto. My wife great grandmother is also a mulatto with a greater mixture of races and of ethnicities. There are plenty of black people in this country with this background, you may even be from a background like this and not know even know about it.

But, when a person has a white mother and black father (or vice-versa), why do we have to claim him? He is just as white as he is black if not more considering he was raised almost solely by his mother's side.

This doesn't sound like a "we" issue. This is solely a personal issue with Obama and his family,one I'm sure he has already dealt with.

:sitdown:

Why don't you ask 'White people' why they don't claim him?
