Are we really saying anyone that looks black, is black no matter what? So if Obama, who is mixed, could pass for white, would he be black?
Why aren't people offended when media calls Obama the first black president?

like I alluded to in my first post (everybody is mixed), there is no real definition of 'black' except in a social and personal context. TUH approximates a good rule by just going by how he describes himself

The problem with the "everybody is mixed" argument is it not realistic to race relations of today. You completely understand what I am saying, so why pull the "everybody is mixed" card.
I am sure his mother and grandmother who he has stated "he loves dearly" would love for him to speak on the other half of his heritage. Nothing wrong with it.

a person called an african america usually = someone of african slave ancestory + a hint if white slave master. thats what a lot of times makes up AFRICAN AMERICAN.
we are mixed as well. it just goes further back.
obama is as AFRICAN american as it gets. he's literally an AFRICAN AMERICAN. do you not understand this? his dad was african and we know from where. his mother was american.

But the only objective, non social way to describe race is that it doesn't mean anything cause everybody is mixed. Beyond that black, mixed, etc is subjective and dependent on "relations" between identity groups

I am shocked black people let the "First Black President" stuff slide, but I do understand it. We never expected anyone of darker skin to make it to the White House, so we just accept it.
