Eternally Jaded
Superstar
Chamillionaire's biggest asset was his willingness to walk away if he didn't like the deal. This too...but lets keep it a buck, 80 percent of the rap game consists of eager ass youngins that do not know the difference between a 360 and a reverb.
This goes back to the glory of days of Sugarhill Gang. While While the big dude talking about super sperm, the execs were applying the lube. While Rakim was fiending for the microphone trying to get paid in full, so were the execs trying to get that paper off of him.
While De La Soul were 3 feet and rising, Tommy Boy was making the stakes high for them.
While ATCQ was looking for their wallet, the execs were like "GOT IT"
Redman wanted to know Whut thee fukk when he seen his first royality check.
You get the drift, but the grim reality is that folks really want into the game with no backup plan. Reminds me of Boyz in The Hood when Ricky was trying to be that all star running back and ole boy hit the "okay...what you want to do beyond football"

Too much focus on the paper, instead of the paper that's in front of the eyes.
He knew his worth and so, rather than getting a 360 trash deal, he got a joint venture that put the ball in his corner.
Most people seeing money for the first time, don't have the strength to say "nah, this deal is trash and I'm good on it. Do better or i walk."
But yeah, him willing to study where the real money is being made qualified him to get into position long-term.
And for the record, I was bumping Cham back in 04-05. People had him all through their signatures on All hip-hop back then.
And he was legit on the singing rapper train but his music was dope imo. The sound of revenge is a highlight of that decade imo.
