Why aren't more rappers doing what Chamillionaire did?

Because a lot of young dummies are rappers.

This too...but lets keep it a buck, 80 percent of the rap game consists of eager ass youngins that do not know the difference between a 360 and a reverb.

This goes back to the glory of days of Sugarhill Gang. While While the big dude talking about super sperm, the execs were applying the lube :dame:. While Rakim was fiending for the microphone trying to get paid in full, so were the execs trying to get that paper off of him.

While De La Soul were 3 feet and rising, Tommy Boy was making the stakes high for them.

While ATCQ was looking for their wallet, the execs were like "GOT IT"

Redman wanted to know Whut thee fukk when he seen his first royality check.

You get the drift, but the grim reality is that folks really want into the game with no backup plan. Reminds me of Boyz in The Hood when Ricky was trying to be that all star running back and ole boy hit the ":unimpressed:okay...what you want to do beyond football"

Ricky:

Too much focus on the paper, instead of the paper that's in front of the eyes.

He threatened to teach every rapper on universal how to audit unless they released him of his contract. They released him immediately :francis:

According to the video Nelly was the one who advised him to audit, which is dope.

I didn't know much about chamillionaire other than some of his music and that he made money from investments in tech. But it seems dude was extremely business minded from the very beginning and had a clear objective. Plus his track record of spotting potential is crazy.

Rappers not reading their contacts is a multi million dollar business in and of itself. Once he threatened that they quickly folded.

The not reading your contract thing is overblown, the major labels are a cartel, they all give out the same shytty record deals and the only way you can avoid it is if you already generating good income as an artist and don’t really need them.

Whenever a artist comes out complaining about their contract it’s funny to me, because all the other artist know they signed the same fukked up contract for a chance in the music industry, but don’t want the fans to blast them as a dumbass that’s not on top of their business.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you involved in the music industry? I think you posted about this before.

Cham foolowed the blueprint to the tee:

  • He never sold out (kept it true to his persona)
  • Got the money and wasn't a dikkhead with the funds
  • Kept his legacy in tact (not stuck in a pile of flabbiness trying to do shows in front of Russian cacs like most washed up rappers do)
  • The only dude with the nuts to expose :mjpls:with his entire chest out
If anything, Cam knew this rap shyt was a hustle to get the meat and throw away the bones.

Yea I work in the industry, that why I can say almost everybody in this shyt has a fukked up contract if they’re in a major label deal.

Some dudes just make so much money they don’t notice it, 10 million dollars sounds like a lot of money until you realize you generated 100million plus for the label.
