Why aren't Jamaican Dancehall artists blowing up like spanish reggaeton artists have the past year?

Spanish Town is nothing like Suphtin Blvd

But ur whole narrative is always
‘We AA we started everything”

“they are rhyming their words they copied rap”

Nah mate we give credit where credit is due and AA are a large influence all over the Globe indeed

However Dancehall is something that arose out of a downtown party culture totally exclusive to Caribbean shubeens more specifically Jamaica and is historical, political and social Climate.
Exactly.

Don't discredit Jamaica:ufdup:

Hmm really? I got this info from a longtime family friend that used to be a local DJ in Trinidad. Are you from there yourself? :ohhh:
Nah, some of cousins are tho. Soca has spread and grown to the point that it’s starting to get popping outside the Caribbean outside of carnival time

Even in Jamaica soca is popular now

London baby.
Too much profanity and the artists themselves won’t compromise themselves or water down their material.

Even the radio edit’s are raw af.

Vybz gave everyone content to run with when he was free- that’s why the whole scene died down & tropical house was mysteriously created when he got locked up.

Dancehall has a massive quality control issue and as others have said it’s filled with profanity. That being said I think the genre can prosper again, there just needs to be proper management of the artists and such. From what I hear some of the heavyweights pretty much abanonded dancehall to chase rappers and shyt

Trash production. The UK/Nigerian (mixed with trap, LOLLLLL) hybrid style is more likely to pop off.
Real reason: the amigocac mestizo (Me no black papi, I am no negro) diaspora is much larger and has nothing popular locally...US "Urban rican" styled music is their "go to" and this bullshyt latin explosion will die after a year like it usually does.
Slow jams> lovers rock, because that's where "lovers rock" comes from, and they're more dynamic.
:damn:
AAs stop taking credit waaaaaaaaah
Whelp, go back and stop Coxsone Dodd from soaking up the SAUCE, importing records from MIAMI AND NEW ORLEANS IN THE 50S.
Meanwhile, Herc was just doing what Disco King Mario was doing, and even said he added no "jamaican" music.
Stop bytching, y'all put this prideful energy out, we'll crush that with facts.

i'd rather see them sing in Engish. I'm still not fukking with reggaeton or latin trap artists that don't pay homage to where their styles come from.
That's Brazil. Maybe the whole jamaica needs to
A.stop fukking lying about inventing or contributing significantly to hip hop. No.
B.give AAs just due for multiple waves of POWERFUL AND DIRECT influence.
