It’s been a couple times I overheard women talking about Nikki Bella. Sounded like it had to do with reality tv relationship stuff tho and not wrestling

There was a lot of women who don't watch WWE that watched Total Divas. One of my exes was a big Total Divas fan. She loved Trin

I watched the Grammys the other night and I recognized maybe 2 people out of like 10 in the "Best New Artist" category

There were people in the Best R&B category that I've never heard and that's one of my favorite genres

I'm not super out of touch when it comes to pop culture either, it's just more a testament to how we live in our own bubbles of what we consume/like and it's easy to miss shyt that's not in that hemisphere

It's this. Everything is so much more fragmented now.

Seth Rollins could have been a megastar if they didn't humiliate him using Randy Orton and Dean Ambrose. Roman Reigns was never humiliated in front of millions of people. The role Seth played in 2014-2015 was fukking harsh. He'd attack but then get destroyed the following episode.

WWE is big enough to not have to depend on their stars to be crossover stars. Going public, having a fat streaming contract, and sponsorships out the ass keeps everything inhouse. Outside stars want in more than WWE needs Braun Stroman to be in Creed III.

Yep. its really demographics for the most part..

you show a million of Gen Z tik tok teens a picture of Canelo Alvarez and a picture of iShowSpeed or Adin Ross... I bet my LIFE more of them will know Speed and Adin than they do Canelo...

now you take a million 30+ year old Mexicans cats and do the same.. 96% will know Canelo and most would have absolutely no fukkin idea who Speed or Adin was..

Now we know Canelo is a star and Speed/Adin are nobodies in comparison, but to their demographic they're Jesus. all this shyt is super fragmented. There's so many different pockets of entertainment these days, and so many different ways it's consumed. Someone can be the most important person in the world in one pocket and completely irrelevant in another. That's just how shyt is today lol

Man, these people so outdated.

Roman got damn near 7 million followers on IG, people know who he is.

The days of the hulk hogan megastar is over. Wrestling isn’t being consumed by 10 million viewers on a weekly basis anymore. That’s just what it is

To be fair that also doesnt necessairly mean shyt either given you get influencers and IG models pulling some crazy numbers like that and people wouldnt know them. Speaks more to the fragmentation of pop culture

It'll be like the Ruthless Agression era where in the moment it doesnt feel like they crossover like the attitude era or 80s stars and then 10 years latrer you'll talk to people younger than you and they talk bout Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Cena, Angle and Batista like they were Hogan, Savage, Goldberg or some shyt

Honestly...don't NOBODY really care about nobody anymore...stars ain't stars like they used to be...

No matter how big or Famous of a person is yall pic put them out in the street somewhere at a certain spot and nobody will notice or care...

For example supermodels don't exist anymore. You couldn't go without Naomi, Cindy, Kate etc being everywhere late 90s-00s. There used to be a hierarchy of things, people at the top telling you who to care about, what to wear, what's in right now, music etc. The internet has leveled the playing field of just about everything and turned the world into Las Vegas kinda, something is always going on at any time. Like for how big Drake & Taylor Swift seem over current artists, they don't seem as large as 2000s artist at the top and that's with top PR keeping them in the mix. Things were a lot more insular back then, there's other shyt always going on now

So it was probably easier back then for Vince, WCW too if they had their shyt together to backdoor into pop culture. Add larger than life characters too like Rock, Austin at their peak and you've got fire

WWE doesn't want stars larger than the brand true, AEW's coming on it's 5th year and nobody over there is known more than they were in 2019. The world is just different the UFC's not even a popular as it was in the 2000s
