Tash to me is the West Coast version of Tame One where being in a group that never blew up like they should have hurts his all-time standing in rap.

The Liks as a group were fire, but Tash specifically is one of the best lyricist of the 90s that never got his just due.

Idk maybe it’s because Tha Alkaholiks were different than the rappers in the West Coast mainstream. They were like b boys at a time when gangsta rap was popular. And they also came up under King Tee who’s also underrated compared to the NWA family tree like Snoop, DPG, Mack 10, etc

And Tash’s solo album was didn’t live up to a lot of people’s expectations. But it had some joints to me though

This one was on the Friday Soundtrack, one of my favorites from these dudes, first two albums are great, even Likwidation got some fire joints on it

They are all very humble, cool guys. Got a chance to meet all of them but at different times/different shows. Tash introduced himself as if no one knew who he was.

I think being so humble and low key kept them from getting a bit more shine. Also, when they ran with the Neptunes people out here kind of felt like they 'sold out' which I never agreed with :yeshrug: I still bang their music and think Tash's projects are mad underrated too.
