Some years back it was a trend in NYC to fukk with the rock shirts...you think most of these nikkax in the hood heard one song from any of those guys? lol Think man...Most dudes had no clue whether or not they was buying a Jerry West or Bob Lanier throwback or what their stats was...all they knew was they liked the color scheme lol

Nah wearing tee shirts isnt appropriation...When ur wearing a tee shirt with timbs and braiding ur hair and calling urself T-Bone then ur appropriating.
We agree to disagree. I think they wear it for the sole purpose of appropriating our culture especially if they don't even listen to the music.

Culturally Appropriation isn't even a bad thing because it happened naturally anyway.
Thread done spiraled out of control. I've seen all I need to see.

If a Mexican is raised up around black people, and adopts mannerisms, style of dress, music taste, isn't that appropriation?
Why are you proposing hypothetical questions? Anyways a Mexican person being raised around Black people doesn't mean appropriation is naturally occurring, that's not even appropriation.

Appropriation is a form of exploitation. Nobody said being interested in Black culture is a villainous act, but at the same rate that's the same point appropriators begin at. If a mexican person adopts mannerisms, fashion, music and interests and then gives no credit to the people that formed his interests yes they're appropriating.

OP has a point. Back in the 90's, only cacs wore rock t shirts. You could buy those shirts from Sam Goody and other music stores. Back in the early to mid 90's, there were the rap shirts though. They were always black with the bright yellow lettering

Every few years black folks always appropriate some really white clothing choices but flip it. Last decade it was the Hollister, Abercrombie and Aeropostale. Nobody but cacs wore that shyt in the 90's when you had white malls and black malls and there was no online shopping yet. The late 90's/early 2000's was probably the last time black fashion was distinct from white fashion because urban black owned labels predominated (i.e. Phat Farm, Fubu, Pelle Pelle, Maurice Malone etc.). Brands like Polo have always been geared to the whitest most elitist American audience possible. Gucci and Versace are designed for rich Euro cacs.
