Why are most modern remakes of movies so bad?

I’m watching candyman remake and it’s just bad. Most of them are soulless, bad writing and basicallly bad everything. That remake of total recall was an example. Great first movie with Arnold but the remake with Colin Farrell, I stopped after 10mins. Robocop is another example

I can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s clearly not the same. Maybe I’m getting old and I grew up on those movies but still

Because a lot of the OG versions are shytty as well but people's noglastia makes them think and believe that they are better than they were

They used to market rated r films to kids. Now they try to make the films appeal to a wider audience. Robocop and Total recall were both rated R originally.
The remakes were both PG 13

I mean yeah some remakes can be good but they’re an exception. Majority of remakes, especially from 2000 are pure rubbish
