I have a friend who's a "non-hood" Black man and highly intelligent. He was in the military and was stationed in South Dakota and he got married to a Mexican single mom he ran into when he was previously stationed in San Antonio.
Dude is tall but isn't remotely threatening yet he hated being stationed in South Dakota because of all the racism he experienced from both Whites and Native Americans. He even told me that some of the worst racism came from the Native Americans who would ironically be huge on Black music and basketball players but would be quick to call Black people racial slurs(even the N word) and tell them to go back to Africa.
And he was racially profiled and pulled over by cops up there constantly over the most trivial shyt that didn't pose any threat whatsoever.
There's plenty of reasons for "non-stereotypical" brothers to want to still live in a Black community or at least an area with a decent sized Black population like Los Angeles or Dallas.
Whites aren't as liberal, open-minded, or accepting of "non-corny" Black men as social media will have you believe. And it's only getting worse with the rise of the MAGA religion in White communities across the country.
