Never got the sugar thing. Always thought it may have started with parents trying to get babies to eat grits. Growing up, Cream of Wheat was butter, sugar, and milk and grits got butter, salt, pepper, milk/water. To this day won’t even look at em wit sugar, don’t seem right.

Only add sugar and maybe some honey. Don't add butter. We tend to add butter to foods that don't need it
